Would my S4 beat a Charger SRT 392?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I keep seeing a lot more Charger and Challengers around town with the 392 and wondering if I were to get next to one on the street, what are odds I beat him from 0-80?

I didn't have a problem taking care of Challenger SRT's when I was GIAC stage 2 on the street and drag strip. Dunno about stage 1.

Stage 1 B8 will beat a 392 SRT... stock S4 will almost tie.
While the SRT has the HP, it’s RWD and 1000 pounds heavier than the S4 so in a straight line from dead stop the S4 has the advantage. Not sure about a rolling.

Hoping it would be from stop so I can take advantage of my launch, lol!

There's no replacement for displacement. You plan on debunking this statement and drag racing/racing these American naturally aspirated V8's on the regular, proving your German sports sedan has what it takes?

So, I drove this for a few years in what I refer to as "The Dark Times". It was one of the few times I strayed from the light of VAG..

15 SRT 392 Charger. Pretty nice car tbh. I think on a long straight it would definitely pull on a stock-stage 1 S4. From a dig no, unless conditions were absolutely perfect and the 392 could get traction. 475hp..it was a fun car

Good info man! Although, I think that says a lot that a little V6 3.0 liter can keep up with that big motor ! Hopefully I'll get a chance to line up against one.
And the other thing I love about the quattro: instant traction!

Displacement is only a part of the overall performance. With the right power to weight ratio a small black will beat a big block any day of the week.

My contribution regarding the displacement to the thread was less legitimate and more so sarcastic, as forced induction has proving its worthiness time & time again. :-)

    Hard to beat these days!

You have that race up to 80 for sure, but he will probably be reeling you in pretty quick by that point. Those Dodges do pretty good from a roll.

Stage 1 I seemed a hair faster than a scatpack charger with this engine. This was at almost 6k elevation and highway speeds. I don't think one would have a chance against stage 2 or dual pulley.

Its easy for the common folk to understand so thats the way it has always been marketed. Try explaining to a Taurus owner 30-120MPH,"well shucks i'll never go that fast"

That plus back in the early 80"s, and 70's, 0-60 under 8 seconds was considered quick enough, so it actually meant something if you could do 0-60 in the 6.XX

I get it. But lately everything revolves around 0-60. The way it is market etc.
while these chargers or challengers are pretty fast, there is always that issue that they are rolling on a platform that saw first day of light in 1995.

I've run a few and I'll always get the jump but at Mexico speeds they reel you in. That also goes for Mustang's. They just do it quicker. Had the distinct pleasure of pulling on one then have him reel me.

Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

Great discussion guys! Was hoping for some bantering and fun with this topic also. I still like that fact that my little 3.0 V6 can keep up, mostly, with the big dogs. And of course they should be able to pull away from me the faster we get going.

Found a young kid with new SRT in my neighborhood, might have to hit him up. He likes to race around residential streets with his loud exhaust!
