I got the sense that they didn't have an alternative. Allstate also said to have the lane departure cameras checked and adjusted by dealer if needed, as they are sometimes affected during the windshield replacement. They said the cost of any adjustment is included in the comprehensive insurance coverage.
I also have Allstate and they go through Safelite. Took it there and they pried open the mirror/lane departure camera plastic and broke off a snap inside (I know bc I had to remove everything since they also messed up the wiring of my radar detector). Luckily, they will get new pieces.
Allstate and Safelite also said to get the lane departure recalibrated. When I took it to the dealer, they said if you don’t get a warning/error to leave it be. It’s a 5 hour job for $600 and all the techs hate doing it. Luckily my lane departure didn’t have any problems after the replacement.
Just things to consider...
