B7 Qauttro looking for opinions on Coilovers

This must have been posted before but I did do a search and found nothing. I'm thinking of getting some coilovers to lower the beast. On my B5 Passat I had KW V1 coilovers. Having spent 5K in repairs a couple months ago I'm not looking to spend another couple thousand on coilovers. If the prices sound whack don't forget I'm also in Canada. Anyway I'm checking out the two places I usually buy parts and one has NEO Motorsport Blue Basic for about a grand. Then there is Solo Werks S1 for half that price. I don't have any experience or even know these brands so I'm just wondering if they are any good? If they are junk then I'd rather hold off and save up to get a better set of coilovers that will last.

I’ll take HR spring and Bilstein shocks over cheap coilovers anyday.

I know you’re lookin at coils, but if money is to be considered, and you don’t track your car, or need that “perfect stance” get a nice cup kit. I read some great reviews about the Vogtland one. And you’re looking around the same price of a cheap coilover kit for good brand names.

Here is an old pic I found of RaudiB7A4 when he sold his Vogtland junior cup kit. Claims it handled very well.

I used to have Vogtland GT1s on my B7 from Achtuning. They were absolutely fantastic. Ride quality was dramatically improved--felt much better than the H&Rs I had on there previously. And at $900 (plus shipping) they were cheaper than H&Rs and some others.

Thanks for the info guys I have some more looking to do. I really like that picture on the cup kit. Anyone from Canada? I only really know of two places to get parts for the Audi. I’d like to have a few more places to compare.

I love my vogtlands. They aren't as plush as STs but they are not stiff either. Either of those will be great. I'd stay away from solowerks.

It has been said a couple times already, but it's worth saying again! The ST coilovers are not a bad option!

They are easy on the wallet, and built off the KW V1 so you get the same handling characteristics and qualities. The only difference is the material used, and the warranty because of this. Rather than a lifetime warranty you get a 5 year warranty, which is still really good for a coilover kit!

If you had the V1s on your Passat and were happy with them, I do not see any reason as to why you would not be happy with STs as well! You can find them on our webstore HERE, and we do offer shipping to Canada as well. If you would like to send me a postal code I can get you pricing for the kit all in!

Below are a couple pictures of a set we did on a B7 S4 a little while back:

Feel free to send me a PM if you need something! Happy modding!

Same here, except Eibach springs over H&R, but same difference. Cheap coilovers are just that, and you being in Canada do not want rusty coilovers.

Check out ECS tuning for the B12 kit. When I bought mine they tried to tempt me into the ST coilovers for the same price, maybe $50 cheaper, and I happily declined.

Another vote for ST's with hyperco springs. I had that setup before I went air and it was fantastic.

No issues in New England winter weather, either. Just spray down your wheel wells to remove salt every once in awhile and you should be good.

It’ll be up soon enough! Was hoping to get this done for Eurokracy this weekend, but I don’t want to do the drive without testing it first.

(The only reason I’d replace my STs btw)
