    Audi RS5 tire recommendation. 20x10

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
All right I did a search and the most recommended tires were Michelin PSS and in the size of 285-30-20

My local Discount Tire just informed me that those tires were discontinued.

What is the recommended Tyres/size etc you guys use?
    Some profile info:

1/ I probably will not be tracking the car.
2/ Currently have 20 x10s with the stock tires and I plan on adding 5 mm spacers all the way around. Are there benefits to going 285s? Do they come out more towards fender compared to the stock 275s to the point where I may not need to add spacers?
3/ I will only be driving this car during the summer.
4/ what's the recommended tire brand for moderate performance/value?

5/ Though I won't be tracking I will definitely be doing occasional spirited drives in the canyons.

    Thanks!!
    Vance.

I just got 20x10.5 wheels on my S5, and got Michelin PS4S in 275/30r20. They're not cheap (around $1300/set out the door) but they're probably the best high performance summer tire. (There's a pilot sport cup 2 if you *were* track inclined).

I was told by mops that a 285 really wouldn't work on the S5, but maybe it would on the RS5? Anyways the 275 looks pretty good on a 10.5 but a bit stretched. On a 10 I would think it looks great.

Michelin may have discontinued the PSS specifically, but the PS4S should be the successor instead.

For a year I ran 285/30r20 bridgestone potenza on a 20x 10.5 or 11 (rims were on the car when I bought it), the 285 was stretched a bit. I do have 10mm spacers all around. Last friday I had 285/30r20 Nitto 555 G2 installed. They fit square with the wheel and I am getting some rub on bigger bumps. I am on H&R sports and the top of the tire tucks all around. After I have the alignment done this friday I may need to drop to a 5mm or so spacer....

I wont ever see a track, this is my daily driver and I have had good experiences in the past with the Nittos. Price was $1175 out the door at Americas Tire.

Vance, I would for sure go 285/30 since you have the extra room provided by the RS5 body. What is the offset for the 20x10?

And yep, going to 285 may negate the need for the spacers, as the 285 sidewall profile will have a more squared/meaty profile. Here is 20x10 on 285/30 -

    Hahaha. Thanks!!

So I don't know how to do multiple quotes.

Hey Mops, the offset is 25mm. I don't remember if it's positive or negative all I know is if that it's further out towards the fender than stock.
Maybe instead of going 5 mm I can go 3 mm with 285 tires and keep the same lug bolts? Eventually tho I'm thinking of aluminum studs if they ever make thoss if I ever have to upgrade to a longer ones.

Perfect! Yep, 285 and 3mm using the stock length lug bolts would be golden. Make certain you have conical seat lugs if the wheels are drilled for conical, and likewise for ball seat.

    Glad to have been useful!

So I know you're set, are we talking conical drilled wheels, and you already 27mm conical lug bolts?

I had PSS and they were awesome in the summer. I think the PS4S are the current similar model and they are worth the money.

Looking at TireRack PSS are rated 8.9/10 and PS4S are 9.1/10, so they might even be better. https://www.tirerack.com/

So, I just left the tire shop and they said these were 25 mm lugs. They appear to be conical. Here is a picture of lug.

An extra 10mm of rubber and no weight gain. Fills the wells out a bit more and is a better match if you're running 10" wide rims.

I’m running 285/30/20 Michelin PSS with 20x10ET20 on my RS5 and my fitment is perfectly flush. I will say that there is about a two/three finger wheel gap in the front on stock height. It might catch your eye, it might not. Definitely go with 285s because the wider tire will fit the wider wheel (compared to 275 with 20x9)

So here are a few pics of me running the same tire, they really are the best of the best IMO with the way they handle. Best I've personally ever owned at least. But the wheel set up is 265/30/20 . Fits perfectly for my taste. No rub nothin like that.
