Suggestions on replacement key and fob besides dealer ?

I assume I need the dealer to program it - unless I can do it in VCDS. Any thoughts where to buy the fob ?

I’m in the same boat. Only had one fob when I purchased the car. I’ve been thinking of contacting the original owner to see if she still has the other key.

Don't you have webshops that can do it? Here I can order a key pre-programmed from a webshop, just needs to be cut.

My local hardware store can do any American and Japanese car but not euros. I was planning to buy from amazon or somewhere just was hoping for a suggestion on where.

VAGCOM cannot program the key fob. Wherever you buy it, you will most likely have to take the car to Audi (or an Indy shop that has the Audi programer) in order to code the key to the car.

When I bought my A6 a couple of months ago, it only came with one keyfob. I refused to pay the dealership +$400 for the keyfob & programming. I went a local locksmith that sells reprogrammable keyfobs. They said they couldn't clone my keyfob since it came w/ the "8E" transponder chip & not the usual audi "48" chip. The 8E chip came with some Honda S2000's too. They also said that the replacement keyfob chip needs to be in virgin state in order for them to reprogram. I ended up finding another place that had a transponder in stock. However, it was $240 or something. I just needed a spare key since I'll just use that if I get a remote start w/ it's own keyfob. I ended up paying $80 for a spare key instead. Actually, I bought two for $140.

Not sure if they do just the key unless it's a valet key. I think they charge one hour labor + cost of key? Look through Facebook marketplace in your area for keyfob replacement services. That's how I found mine locally.

Cool. I bought a couple oem uncut keys on eBay. Will see how it goes.

Recently had t o get a key for the B7. Without any discounts including programming was $580.

You will need to tow or bring the car to Audi as well, and its a sorta rare key programmer that all techs share.

If you know someone at Audi they can save you $180 "installation" charge.

Man that’s so absurd that Audi charges that much for a key. I could even live without the cutting and just use push to start. I’m searching for an Indy place that might do it

The cutting isn't the hard part. Anyone can do that. It's the programming the thing to our cars with the transponder that we have. They make the car VERY difficult to steal, but also make it super expensive to replace keys.
