Sway bar end links? Moog for the back... OEM up front??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Heya,

I was wondering what people were using for front sway bar end links. I know Moog is the way to go for rear on a daily driver or if you just want silent end links (all the spherical seem to eventually cause "clunks" and have to aggressively be greased). That's what I am getting when I add the 034 RSB.

What about fronts? Someone had mentioned the Macan front end link, Porsche #4M0-411-317 https://parts.porschewoodlandhills.c...link-4m0411317

But it looks exactly the same as the SQ5 OEM one it came with. Same part number and everything, Audi (4M0-411-317)! https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...MtMGwtdjYtZ2Fz

I don't see a set of Front end links from Moog either on their website or Rockauto's.

Like I said in the original post, I know Moog is the way to go for rear. I am looking for front recommendations.

Eurocode has front adjustable end links, I just ordered a set of their front and rear bars and have the 034 rear end links and will probably add the eurocode fronts if I feel they are needed but am gonna try the front with stock links to start and go from there.

Do you know if the front OEMs are metal or plastic like the rear? I linked the part I think is the OEM Audi part above and it appears to be metal and the same part as the Macan (same part #).

Hmm... is there much advantage to switching out the OEM SQ5 front end links with the Moogs?

It doesn’t sound like anyone changes them out. From the photos the OEM appears to be metal with a rubber bushing, where the rear OEM is plastic (at least not metal) and there is and advantage to switching to the metal and polyurethane bushing Moog end link.

Ah! So I figured out what really is stock OEM. It's a plastic front end link https://www.europaparts.com/sway-bar...k0411317d.html Verified this when I finally got my lazy ass out to look with a flash light. Couldn't see them the first time... didn't think to just turn the wheel all the way to one side...

This sight also happens to have the Macan OEM for the cheapest I have seen https://www.europaparts.com/sway-bar...4m0411317.html

I already ordered the MOOGs and received them and they are half the price with ($25) with free shipping ($10 for the Europaparts to CA). Kind of wish I had gotten the Macan as they are aluminum. But next time maybe.

The big reason for switching out the OEM ones for me is that I am dropping the car with the KW SC coilovers and have heard that the OEM ones don't hold up well to a lowered "stiffer" suspension.

Think I am going to Krylon the Moog as they are not stainless steel. I guess I will go yellow to match the horrendous KW colors.

Where is a good place to source the mounting hardware?

Local Audi Dealership will have them

Is the all-metal / aluminum revision the way to go now? Do the plastic ones have a high fail rate on stock system?

Is it a common theme for the 034 RSB Links to clunk prematurely?

I changed mine to the metal version from the plastic OE types when I installed new coilovers. Honestly, I cannot tell any freaking difference - as long as the links are not broken it really does not make much difference. People get really wound up about metal vs plastic but to me that is just hype...

I’d have to agree, I picked up the 034 billet links for the rear. I think it’s more of a appearance thing but my plastic links were creaking
