Complete guide of speakers in the B9 B&O system

The attached Google docs spreadsheet lists out every speaker in the car by location along with guidance of the frequency response it's expected to play, the impedance of the driver, and how much power it's rated for. The factory driver power ratings are based on some units I found with power limits on the part number sticker, not on actual measurements. Nor do I know the amplifier's actual power outputs, but I'm assuming as long as your replacement drivers are rated the same or better, you should be fine. I tried pretty hard to isolate each driver to my microphone using a clay pot lines with foam placed over the driver during measurement but other sound still sneaks in. This is especially a problem on the door midrange as the door woofer vibrates the entire door panel.

Anyway I hope this is useful for anyone looking to do some upgrading. I myself am about elbow deep into this project on my own car and will dive head first into the rabbit hole this weekend.

I'm not quite done with the fit and finish issues yet so it looks a little ugly but I had to drive it work today and all the drivers are installed and working and I must say the difference sound quality is stunning. If I were a cello teacher, I could probably tell you what brand of rosin he used on the bow. Low notes on cello, bass guitar, tuba etc that were almost non existent on the old system are clear and prominent now. Strings, horns and vocals are crazy clear. EDM thumps so hard and so fast, but you can hear compression noise more clearly so beware of low fidelity sources. Those dome midranges dramatically improve the stereo imaging. They really fill the front seat with clean clear sound. I felt like I had Van Halen on my right and Sammy Hagar on my left. The back seat experience is night and day from the old speakers. There's so much more bass that I actually turned the subwoofer down by 6 to the straight up position. I might add a low pass filter to the sub around 60Hz as it's clear now that B&O leaned on the sub way too heavily to fill in the lousy bass of the front door woofer.

All this with the tone controls set to flat and the fader to dead center. Sound focus "ALL".

What did you upgrade? all the speakers? amplifier?

Are you in some place that blocks access to google docs? It's a detailed breakdown of every speaker in the car with specs, measurements, and performance graphs I measured with a calibrated microphone and some speaker testing software. It's intended as a guide for anyone who is thinking of replacing any of the B9 B&O speakers.

In my car I've replaced the subwoofer, front door woofer, front door mid, and rear door woofer.

I'm still updating it as I go along from time to time, but mainly I'm focusing now on the work I'm doing on my own car using the information I gathered from the study. So far I'm pretty pleased with the improvement. That 4" dome midrange is truly exceptional in it's clarity and detail and it fills the cabin with perfectly imaged sound far better than the fake 3D effect could ever hope for.

Thanks! Initially I just made the sheet for my own reference and to keep all my data in one place, but once I started getting good results from my work, I figured it would be helpful to the community. I was fortunate to get access to some decent tools.
