How many units of RS3 are on US roads?

    Does anybody has a clue?
My guess would be around 1000-1500.

The factory also halted the production for a few weeks. https://www.motor1.com/news/263681/a...oduction-stop/

I am not sure if the production for the USA was affected. If you look into car gurus there are not many RS3 new for sale but there are tons of RS5s on the dealers. mY guess would be probably between 1700 and 2000 RS3s. Production run for the RS suppose to be roughly 2 years in the USA, at least that is the pattern.

There is shit ton of rs5 everywhere for sale, they will have to start giving incentive to move them. In Canada they are 35k to 40k more than the RS3.... In my book the Rs5 has no value, for that price they needed to be 520ish hp, or have a special drivetrain.

I just picked up my RS3 and there were 3 RS5's sitting in the show room. My salesman said they only got 3 RS3s total so far and all were already sold.

I picked a new S5 sports back 2 months ago and I can guarantee you that once a decent tune is developed for the S5 then the RS5 market will take a big hit. , Yes , the RS5 has twin turbos instead of one and it probably has a couple of fancy tweaks here and there but the S5 with the 3.0 and single big turbo will grab the market by the horns. dollar per dollar the S5 has more to offer. Look at the review from Carwow. he compared the S5 and the RS5.

Your completly right, when they crack that ecu, the Rs5 wont have much to offer over the s5 except the warranty haha. But for some reason, in canada, the rs3 is so "cheap" compared to the rest of audi lineup: same price as the s5.

The RS3 is less expensive in Canada when taking the current exchange rate into account. Base price on a 2019 RS3 is $63,700 which is about $47,500 USD.

I don't know why people compare this way. It seems VAG is making less profit on Canadian cars but I'm not sure the details of all the duties and what not. I know we signed a free trade deal with EU not that long ago. US citizens typically have a fair bit more disposable income than Canadians so it's likely the car is still more easily attainable for more people down there.

It is completely standard to compare the prices of goods in different countries using a reference currency. When looking at purchasing power parity, most goods are more expensive in Canada, which does give Americans more purchasing power. OECD tracks this sort of thing.

My opinion on why the RS3 is relatively less expensive in Canada is the simply fact Americans are more willing to pay up for fancy stuff and the people who study such things know how much each market will bear. Even the "cheap" Canadian RS3 don't get many looks in a working class (semi-communist) city like Winnipeg, as they have sat on lots here for 6+ months. There is still a 2018 sitting at the local dealer from last summer. This would not happen in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto.

How hard is it for a American resident / person to buy a Canadian car and bring it across the Boarder? I am thinking tax and warranty issues?

The vehicle needs to be roughly 65% north American to avoid duties... the RS3 is built in Germany. You would need to pay brokerage of approximately 8% plus your warranty is gone.

I don't think that's going to do anything.

My 2017 S3, I actually never used the sunroof till recently (a month ago).

It was whisper quiet for the first year, then started to make noises over speed bumps during hot weather. Now any bump it pops and cracks. I opened up the sunroof to see if that would quiet it down, but it's still there regardless of what position the sunroof is in.

At this point, I don't care as the car will be traded in for the RS3 in the coming month.

Perhaps old info, but for someone researching info because they are thinking about a 2019 Audi RS 3,
our 2019 RS 3 now at 43,075 use with 31,041 miles being fast country back road runs during week
days after 10am, has NEVER had a leaking issue with its sunroof, opened and closed many times and
certainly exposed to a lot of water in the rain and our garden hose while washing it.

Only issue we've had was the awful performance the factory 235/35/19 tires and wheels exhibited!
Corrected with Neuspeed RSe10 18x8.5 alloy wheels and Michelin 245/40/18 Pilot Sport tires, which
changed the whole personality of our RS 3 handling and comfort, which helped significantly with the
poor road surfaces we encounter during our FAST country back road runs.

Meh, I know it’s a very random group but RS3 came in last on this review. Luckily for me I don’t care how others’ rate the cars I choose to drive.

Yeah I think that is a bit ridiculous. A 911 Turbo S. A $200k+ car. The new G80 which is over $20k more expensive and a big turbo super lightweight AWD car. If anything I consider it a huge win that the RS3 was chosen to compete against the likes of those behemoths in the first place.

Interesting! I've lost track of the large number of people who have approached me
at a gas station and asked me what was our 2019 Audi RS 3 called, over the past
2 years since we bought it!

It certainly isn't well known in Northern Virginia, 55 miles from Washington D.C.!
