B6 with Bose. What needed to retro fit RNS-E?

I have this pioneer avic-d3 which would be great if it works 100%.
At least it sounds pretty good with the Bose system that this car have.

I want to get something cleaner and better. I found that some people retro fit RNS-E to their B6/B7.

I am not a electric expert or audios. I want to know what I need to retro fit RNS-E to my b6 with Bose.

I have Bluetooth in my pioneer which works so so.

I want back up camera since the one I have right now is doing nothing. IMG_0718.JPG

The stuff you need to accomplish this job is readily available from eBay or depends on your budget. Back up camera also is doable with the RNSE head unit by changing settings thru Vagcom. But you will need the MMI video adapter or kufatec to make it work.

Your options could be limited since you want the backup camera. Usually people use the options for Bluetooth or aux input. But I could be wrong. hopefully someone with better knowledge will able to pitch in.

You Need Harness Also since it uses quadlock connector. Adapter and antenna is readily available thru eBay. Everything will be plug and play. If you dug little bit more you will find previous post about information about it.

But if your willing to drop more money on it mind as well get a different unit that will give you more options. Some people run Dynavin, ecs have something also or eBay one Chinese knockoff of the RNSE.

if i recall the RNS-E does not sound better than an aftermarket head unit be it name brand or android head unit.

if you do plan to go RNS-E and have a lot to spend, i'd recommend going with the last model which I believe is from the A3...it has a higher resolution screen, traffic data, and better audio. you'll need to find a A4 faceplate to swap though as the A3 faceplate doesn't fit the same on the B6/B7.

don't forget bluetooth call integration. you'll need microphone and supporting hardware to fully integrate.

Honestly. I don’t know which one is best. I saw in other forum people sayid RNS-E is the best. So I decided to go with that. If there is any other unit that is cheeper and easier to install. I would go with that. A3s rnse is pretty expensive. I found many rnse under 300$ in eBay. Do they work?

I thought the phone option on the RNSE was great. Literally no hands talking. If I had to do it again I would get a Bluetooth adapter so you can plug it into the AUX input. Check eBay. That way you have no cables dangling anywhere and you can tuck the Bluetooth receiver behind the dash. I didn’t mind the navigation. It was annoying typing the location into the system but once you did, I had no issues. It’s just outdated compared to a newer touch screen.

pro-tip: use google and not the native search function on Audizine... just use Audizine as a keyword on google and it will work a lot better.

AvanTTix has a few DIY's of exactly what you want to do:

    RNS-E install

    Back up camera

Like mentioned before, doing it completely OEM+ isn't cheap, even with used parts.
