Torque wrench for oil filter and drain plug..recommendations

I did an oil change on my B8 S4 yesterday . My two torque wrenches are 1/2" snap-on (click-style) and a 3/8" Westward.......they both started at 25ftlbs.....so above the recommended torque for oil filter (18ftlbs) and 6mm allen drian plug (22ftlbs). What torque wrench do you use? Does Schwaben have a torque wrench that is suitable for the lower ratings? or could I go to a snap-on 1/4"drive to get lower (18-22ftlbs)?

Oil filter is 22 ft-lbs. But yeah a good 1/4” drive would do the trick also.

Stahlwille makes awesome wrenches (and they supply Audi’s factory&dealers), and are pretty expensive but totally worth it. Eg https://vw.snapon.com/SpecialToolsDe...temId=63420183

We’re using this (and the 40-200Nm one) and they’re amazing!
Otherwise there’s tons of others that are cheaper, can’t comment how good they are.

Harbor Freight actually has very good torque wrenches in a variety of Inch, Ft and Nm ranges under $20. While I normally don’t buy automotive tools there they are tested to be extremely accurate.

Thanks very much for the info......the Stahwille makes some impressive gear. I ended up going with a Schwaben brand,as it was one that a local german shop carries. I'm hoping the quality is ok.

As an fyi imo it only makes sense to buy tq wrenches from home depot. They still offer lifetime warranties on them where lowes and most others lowered the warranty on precision items to 5 years or less. At some point you will need to replace your torque wrench and ive had home depot just walk me back and pick out a free replacement. Its saved me a couple hundred in free replacements so far

    I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Certainly not professional grade but it's affordable and it's never let me down in 3 years so far. It's been good for every job I've done on the car. The oil filter and plug are a little towards the low end, ideally you want to be using a torque wrench in like 25-75% of it's range. But those parts aren't critical enough to need absolute accuracy, it's not like building an engine.

    1/4 turn past snug.

or HF. Someone on YouTube did a comparison and HF was spot on the big boys. Use it for a few years , then just use it as a breaker bar.
