Elite Motorsports in Farmingdale, Tyrol Motorsports in Ridgewood right off the top of my head.
I'm sure there are plenty others but those are the big shops locally.

I had good luck and fair pricing with Edge Motors in West Havestraw. About 45 minutes north of the city but their prices and quality of work more than made up for the ride up there. They are quite familiar with our B7's.

When I contacted both Tyrol and M-Spec neither shop would return my calls or emails. Seems like they really only want to deal with higher end cars, bigger ticket jobs.

Bruno is also a very good option. The two downsides with him is he is pricey and he WILL NOT use any parts you bring him!

Idk about M-spec, but Tyrol is a small shop and very busy. I wouldn't say they deal with high end cars but you're probably right about big ticket jobs, money has to be made to pay the rent.

Avoid M-spec. They say they have an VW/Audi tech onsite but mostly deal with BMW's. I had a friend go there for a routine timing belt, water pump replacement on his B6 A4. The car stayed in their shop for almost 3 months and he was left with a $3500 bill. They had to replace the head gasket and have the head sent out to replace a couple valves. He visited the machine shop where the head was sent and the owner was very nice to show him around the shop and the repair he was doing on the head. The owner told him to avoid having any work done at M-spec.

ACI Dynamex up in Connecticut gets great reviews. I was recently at the New York auto show and they had quite the set-up.

It could be a hike for you, but I am from this area and I drove to the Rutgers area for an audio install, multiple installs, because I like using good quality people to work on my car.

Just a follow up, I found a local Audi specialty shop on Staten Island. Beso Auto Repair. Brought my car in and had a full computer diagnostic done and NO error codes. Spoke with Mirsad, the owner, about transmission behavior and he recommended NOT to change the fluid as it would almost guarantee a tranny failure soon after. He is Audi trained and worked in a dealership before opening his own shop.

Why would changing the tranny fluid cause a failure? I have only read old wives tails about that.

As it was explained to me, the viscosity of the fluid has deteriorated in conjunction with the wear of the clutches. Changing this balance would be risking failure.
