Can anyone recommend tuning software/equipment for 98 Audi a4 b5 1.8t quattro aeb with stage 1 giac tune? I recently replaced turbo and decided to add headers while taking turbo out and I beleive now the tune needs to be adjusted. It was recommended to send ecu to someone for a stage 2 flash but I would like to invest in equipment to tune on the fly as I'm nervous to spend money for something that might not fix my problem

MPPS v16+ or more. However self tuning is not easy. You will need to spend atleast 2-4 months reading stuff to understand the technical side about it then gaining experience is another thing. You need to read an ICE book, get the ME7 Funktionrahsmen, Self studies, and hella other pdfs.
I am a self tuner so you can trust me on this. It is not an easy process :) However if you really wanna get into it I can help.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated, this is my first"tuner" car project and no one around me has the ability to tune it unfortunately so I am ready to learn more about doing it myself

You're in PA? There are plenty of places scattered throughout the east coast they'll tune a B5.

It took me about 4 months(mostly spent defeating the immobilizer) to understand and safely nefmoto a 2.7t and they're far more documented. If you do it check your checksums before flashing! Like 3 times. It would be hard to really know where to start unless you find a base map already altered similarly. Look on nefmoto's forum... It's been asked. That Australian guy on here... Totally forget his name tunes 1.8t's I believe outside of what is normal. Tuner pro, gellato, msps, like 5 exe's is what you'll need to read, alter, blow it up, try and tune it again ;)

Do you have a wideband and have you checked your injector duty cycle?
You have a 400bb me3/5 ecu. Vs me7.x which is what's all documented
And 800bb. I believe that difference only means 400 is 512kb's flash vs 1mb.. But.. It's been a while.

there is not much difference between 512 kb and 1024 kb flashes . The ME7 FR applies to all of the ecu's that run the same.

Cheapest way is getting a blue FTDI cable and nefmoto, that will read your flash. However I would much invest in a MPPS v16 replica as it can do many many more cars than just ME7. After you have that you gonna read a couple ICE and Turbocharging books.

    Street Turbocharging is a must.

    https://www.amazon.com/Street-Turboc.../dp/1557884889

After that you gonna get the ME7 FR and the translated version of the some modules , this is absolute necessary, then you go s4wiki.com/tuning and read this like 5 times.

After that if you are lucky you gonna find a mappack for your ECU , if not you'll have to find the maps yourself :P ( I had to :P) , I cant be asked to write it all down right now as I am quite tired maybe in the future.

I'm coming up on my 5th iteration of my small frame t3/t4 atmo to turbo conversion self tune :)
