Oil filter made in China - Would you use?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was going to change my oil in my 2017 S3. It is 2 years old and I change the oil once a year since I only put 2,000-2,500 miles a year on it. I noticed that they Hengst filter is made in China. I am not sure if I want to use it. Does anyone know if the OEM filters are made in Germany or Europe? The dealer wants $14.95 for the filter and I would like to change my oil this weekend so I cannot wait to order one online.

Would you use a oil filter that was made in China in your car?

I normally don't frequent this side of the forum but when I logged in this title caught my eye. These guys spec out the Hengst for use in the S3.

Myself I use a Mann on my A7 and itis from Mexico.

I bought factory VW/Audi filters from ECS tuning. They are made in Mexico

I second ECS tuning. Your oil is only changed once a year like me. I put less miles on my car then you do. If you want to change the oil sooner, go to your local audi dealership, don't they sell the OEM filters there?

I got the filter from ECS Tuning as part of the Motul oil change kit. I ran to the dealer and grabbed one. I was able to get it for the $11.50 price on the Audi parts site. Gotta save whatever I can with the $4.30 gas here.

I get my Mann oil filters from the local VW dealership down the street. Same filter Audi uses and it’s almost 10 bucks cheaper

^^^^ This.... Audi wouldn't even sell me a drain plug... flat out said "we don't carry them" walked next door to VW and he had them in his drawer... bought drain plug and filter and even knocked 15% off

Oil filter made in China - Would you use?

Unfortunately there is no control we have as to where a given product is manufactured - welcome to the global economy.
    As per Mann....
“MANN-FILTER products are manufactured in plants right across the globe. All production locations work according to strict quality guidelines set down by our plant in Marklkofen, Germany.

The production processes are precisely defined for every product and can be divided into three categories: basic processes, key processes and core processes. Each step in the production of a MANN-FILTER filter is designed in such a way that defects cannot occur.

With its highly qualified staff, a globally standardised management system and its close attention to rigorous guidelines, MANN-FILTER can guarantee a high quality product at the end of its production process – no matter where you are in the world.”

I’d be more concerned about those no name products over those used by others on a daily basis etc.

Not sure which is better.. factory filters have fiber end caps (well made, not like those on crap Fram filters). I haven't come across a metal end cap version on EA888 oil filter

This oil and filter debate has raged on for decades...yet no one has ever posted their oil filter failed or their oil failed.

I've DIY changed my oils and filters on my Audi's since 1981.

I've used OE Audi filters, Fram and many others...never once has a any oil filter caused me an issue.
