    Question A4 vs SRT-4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was asked a question and i'm not sure what the answer is.

Which of these would win in the 1/4 mile.

    2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4 with 350whp
    1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro with 300whp

Now assuming both drivers of equal skill and have adequate clutches, which would win?

SRT-4 has more power, and weighs less. that's my bet, assuming it can get a good launch.

The quattro would be an aid off the line, but after that it will be a power sapping drain... Once you are going, fwd is far more efficient.

I think it's a drivers race. Remember, the reason we like our A4's is quattro. If the A4 can get a good launch he might be able to hold off the srt-4 in the 1/4 mi. I wouldn't give it to the srt4 so quickly although, all things equal, that's who should win.

I'd have to say possibly the SRT-4... Just mainly cause I have owned one before and they are quite fast... Add an additional 115hp on top of that and gobs of tq... Holy shit... I have also driven a stage III SRT-4 which had around 380hp and downshifting from 4th into 3rd while giving it a little gas at about 55 mph and breaking the front tires loose is fun!! But I still love my A4 and won't ever own another Neon...

    2.4 L big turbo

    1.8 Big turbo

50 less horses for the A4

Srt 4 is always gonna have more torque , but i think the audi can hold it off through the quarter, after that will be the issue.

There are so many factors that come into play

Srt's got the advantage, big win for the lilttle audi if it pulls it off

Here is what I need to know to give you an answer...

These items can vary depending on
    1)Tuning
    2)Turbo
    3)Weight Reduction

Now... I need to see RPM/HP graphs... also RPM/TQ graphs...

also.. what is the weight of both vehicles ? Stock?

Will the SRT-4 be on slicks? or drag radials?

The thing is there is many ways to get to 350WHP on cars.. some people get more power out of slapping a big turbo on it... some get power from a mix of mods/tuning/turbo combo...

I dont know what to tell you really..

ive seen two cars.. one with 500WHP .. one with 460WHP.. the one with 500WHP was consistenly 50-100WHP behind the second car until about 6000 RPMS... and the redline isnt very high.

Assuming though.. that they both have the same tires (non slicks or drag radials)

I would give it to the SRT-4.. it has more power, and less wieght...

it the driver can pull off the launch on either car it would be close...

These are all guesses.. if someone knows any 1/4 mile times for a 300WHP A4, and a 350WHP Srt-4 share them please..

you know what... I ramble too much
..someday i'll go BT .. for now..

Yeah, I was going to do that to my SRT-4 because of the warranty but they didn't have the shit out yet... Came out with the stg iii kit a year after the SRT came out and I was one of the first 100 to own one...
