Fortin EVO-All with T harness Remote starter

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just installed a remote starter on my a4 b8 and it was the easiest thing I've done. It also uses the OEM remote, so no extra fob and does not require a key to be used for key decryption.

Only required 3 wires to be tapped CAN H/L at steering wheel
and the brake signal wire under the steering wheel. The rest of the wire are plug and play with the T harness.

No, they make it for manual as well. I believe the only difference would be any extra wire for the clutch. You can check their website

Works for me, I looked into many how-to for remote start and all of them requires wire tapping. Some require more then just 3 wires. This is the easiest solution I found so far and I don't have to give up a key. So I'm a happy camper now.

Here are the pics. The 2 wire are CAN H/L. The other single wire is the brake pedal wire20190428_105947.jpeg20190428_105959.jpeg

Do you have links to all the parts that needed. Did you need to get a flashlink?

Just found out another cool function this thing can do. I was able to use the OEM push start button and it actually start and stop the car. My car did not come with the start/stop button. It came with the center console trim that I bought to replaced my original one when I did the Audi select and parking radar retrofit. It requires a little wiring but nothing difficult.

Looking at their website, and there's a "2010 A4 Manual Transmission Install Guide" that was provided to a user, and he had a question about it, so yeah, it looks like the manual is supported.

Got the Flashlink updater and the Evo-T. Current version of the Flashlink is 4.03, but it wants to update to 4.05. Tried on 2 different computers (Win10-64 and Win7 64, which are both compatible), the update gets to 1%, and never changes. The blue and green LEDs keep flashing indicating that it's updating, but it never does. Since it's stuck in this state, it also won't let me access the remaining menu options. Uninstalled/reinstalled the software on both machines, still the same. Think I might've rec'd a damaged unit, as the box was damaged upon receipt, so Amazon is sending a replacement. Hopefully that solves it.

That sucks, I hate having everything ready to go and then finding out something is not right, and waiting for a replacement. Could you still use it without updating?

Not at all. The window pops up asking me if I want to update, and I say no. It then changes to a window that says "NO FLASH-LINK UPDATER UNIT DETECTED. PLEASE CONNECT A COMPATIBLE UNIT."....all of this when the bottom status line on the software says "Unit Connected", the red LED is lit, and the blue and green LEDs are flashing. At this point, it's full stop. I'm going to try and see if I can force a driver update, but I've already replaced the USB cable. Troubleshooting at this point points to the unit, unfortunately.

Hmm.. let me check out my unit. I know there's an option to flash the older firmware back on the unit. So I'm assuming it can be used without updating.

There are 3 firmware options in the menu: 4.05, 4.03 (currently on the unit), and 4.02. No matter which I select, it does the exact same thing: flashing lights, 1% status bar that doesn't move :-\

And it won't let me proceed unless I make a selection. Can't cancel, either.

Edit: after much wailing and gnashing of teeth (and lots of searching) confirmed, it's the unit. http://fortin.ca/en/qa/83838/flash-l...-stuck-at-1%25 http://fortin.ca/en/qa/83839/flash-l...ate-stuck-at-1

Hmm... This is how I updated mine. Computer must be connected to the internet, then plug in the flasher, it ask to update, pick firmware. Then it flashes the green, blue led and red is solid, the program should tell you to disconnect and reconnect the usb from the computer. It should start to shows the progress which should go by pretty quickly. When it's done the unit should be flashing the green led with the red on solid and the computer says to disconnect and reconnect again.

Looking at Fortin's site, I found multiple threads about "1% " progress bars, and they all say the same thing, even from Fortin: If you get this error, the unit is faulty, nothing you can do. I already requested a replacement from Amazon, and it'll be here tomorrow. Sucks, but in the grand scheme of things, at least I can stop wasting my time trying to get this unit to work, as I'm already 4+ hours in with it.

Update: the other unit had the same issue. As soon as I tried to update to 4.05, it got stuck @ 1%. I sent both back to Amazon, bought another, and this time elected *not* to update. *Now* I'm in

At this point, I would strongly consider not taking the update, or at least wait until *after* you've programmed the Evo-All unit and the need for the Flashlink isn't urgent.

I spent this weekend working on this for my MT. There are 2 different sets of install instructions, one for the EVO ALL with a manual transmission *not* using a T Harness, http://cdn02.fortin.ca/download/7278...ts_a_72781.pdf

and one for installation *with* the T harness:
    https://cdn02.fortin.ca/download/771...ts_a_77161.pdf

There are some changes in the "A" harnesses in the sets of instructions, primarily the A13 and A9 wires and functions. It appears that in order to use the Evo All w/the T Harness, you can't use remote start if you have a MT. I was horking around trying to bypass the clutch based on a combination of those instructions, but it was a no go. The good news is that I was able to connect and leave the T harness and the Evo All in place w/out taking it all out. The functionality of the stock OEM fob to control the alarm (ie, I can still lock/unlock doors, and it still recognizes the Carista programming allowing the windows/sunroof to open/close) remains intact.

I spent a few hours looking around for a clutch bypass information or a how-to and found this:

Pretty nifty, but damn near $400. Anyone have one?

Looking at this diagram it should be possible to use the remote start with the T-harness. If anything contact Fortin themself for help. They've been pretty helpful with me.Screenshot_20190520-084057_Drive.jpeg

Yeah, that's the diagram from above, but if you check the instructions with the T-harness, it specifically says at the very top "ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES". The instructions you posted I have, and posted. It requires a separate remote start unit (pictured above the Evo All unit in the pic you posted), which I was trying to avoid as the Evo All has the functionality (remote start) built into it.

Well, this system was an absolute disaster on my car, shop couldnt get it to work, and Fortin tech support gave up on it after 10 minutes and told them to use a different system. Fortin claimed there was too many keys programmed to the car, but that makes no sense, live data of the kessy module shows 1 key, but even still, far as I understand it the Fortin module clones the key you are using to the module itself, so it should not need an additional key slot in the kessy at all.

Sorry to hear. Did the shop use the t-harness with the installation? If it's an automatic it's only 3 wires with the use of the harness. Fortin should be able to reset they key decryption limit. They did it for me once when I emailed and asked them.

Yeah, I saw that happen in the forums....when I was looking for information for the manual. Like DJKNS said, Fortin has reset them for others w/out an issue.

I need help. I'm in the process of installation but I don't have a plug on the harness that matches the plug in the back of the key port (in the dash). That's were this ties in, correct?

Also, it came with a piggyback for the OBDII... is this needed?

I hope that they didn't send the wrong one.

    Did you finish it?
I was looking at the installation manual for the 2013 S4 and the T-harness should be AUDI, and it should be plug and play directly to the key port.
