    3.0t custom intake

Figured I'd start my own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

So far, I haven't seen anything super in-depth. Anyways, im ordering pieces for a custom intake, retaining the stock airbox, but replacing the filter and throttle body inlet hose. This is mostly an upgrade for those wanting extra noise, with debatable performance increases (especially at stage 2, custom tunes, other parts, etc [my car is stock])

Anyways, onto parts. Ive seen others with 3.0tfsi engines, claiming that aFe filter part #10-10121 (Pro 5r to my knowledge) is usable. Taking a look at our stock air filter, it's clear without modification to the breather hose that won't work- as the two are connected. Possibly installing the aFe filter, blocking the breather hose pathway, and installing a "universal" external filter on the breather hose.

Also. Any aftermarket throttle body hoses seem to be off the table. The plastic nipple for another breather hose is at a different angle (facing passenger side on the S4, straight out on the SQ5, while ours is facing driver's side), eliminating that fit.

Any thoughts or ideas, or should I just go spend an extra few hundred on an open air USP or roc-euro?

Here's where you can see where the hose connects to the air filter.IMG_20190423_180020.jpeg

The eurocode throttle body hose here https://www.ecodetuning.com/EC0407-0...si-109-95.html looks like it may be a more fitted-fit? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...00931ecs02akt/ as well

I think I'm just gonna save up for roc euro. Took out the foam from the airbox, haven't driven it yet

My rkx intake tube and afe filter showed up today (used from rkx for 95 shipped). Looks like I'm going to have to trim at least 2" off the airbox side of the rkx hose. The small hose near the throttle body shouldn't have any issue mating to the rkx hose as they included an elbow and if that doesn't work I can use a straight piece. I ordered the sai breather filter from apr (same piece the include with their intake systems) and I hope it fits our sai hose. The apr breather shows up this weekend so I hope to have installed everything by then. Will update

If this works, not bad for $130ish

Its can be done with the right tools and time. We were working on a few but time and life got in the way....unfortunately

But total parts $130 or so.
