Denso AC Compressor - How much oil should be in it and the system?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I searched through about 4 pages of AC Compressor related threads and could not find this info anywhere.

The manual I have has over 100 pages of AC Systems for different models. Not sure why...

It's a Denso AC Compressor. It's completely devoid of oil. New Condensor, Rec/Drier and O-Tube. Flushing the Evap right now

How much PAG-46 Oil should I add to the compressor and the rest of the system components?

Thanks in advance for any help

So I did some more research and found 130cc for the compressor or 4.4 oz on the denso website. Still haven't found the total system capacity tho.

Thank you! I did some heavy reading in the manual last night and found 130cc as the system capacity for the entire refrigerant circuit (RS4 but same compressor part number). The info I see from Alldata suggests nearly double the amount. Now I'm really torn on what to do. Just got up to make some coffee and put this back together.

Anyone else done this job and can advise?20190419_164129.jpeg

I was just at the Audi parts counter. He looked up the oil which comes in 250ml cans, but couldn't find an actual amount. I mentioned you had seen 130ml and he thought it sounded familiar.

Even though they are the same compressors the systems are different in regards to capacity of Freon gas for example. I remember from the A/C re-fill machine database at Audi that the A4 and S4 have a 650g Freon capacity and the RS4 only 400g of Freon. So in regards to oil the S4 system most likely takes more than the RS4.

At the start of production, the compressor types in the first line of the table were supplied with a refrigerant oil quantity of 180 cu.cm . These compressors can be recognized from the index of the part number (8E0 260 805 with one index or with double index up to "AH"). In Model Year 2004 (as of approx. 01.04), a gradual change was made to other types of compressor with a refrigerant oil quantity of 120 cu.cm or 130 cu.cm . These compressors can be recognized from the index of the part number 8E0 260 805 (with double index as of " AJ") or 4F0 260 805 (and index "E" for vehicles with 8-cyl. engine) Parts List .
The reason for the different oil quantities in the compressor for an otherwise identical refrigerant circuit is the design of the actual compressor. Attention is to be paid to these oil quantities.. Too much oil in the circuit results in higher pressures and reduced system cooling output; insufficient oil can cause lubrication problems in the compressor.
The compressor may have been installed at the factory with a rating plate indicating the part number and the quantity of refrigerant oil in the compressor.

I put in about 130cc, after draining. AC has been working as expected for the past 20k

    Thank you all very much!

Did you use 19oz of refrigerant for a complete recharge?

I put the oil in, but had my mechanic add the 134a... it was whatever the bentley prescribed...

Capacity 480 ±50g (16.9 ±1.8 oz) there should also be a placard on the inside of the hood that will tell you how much the system is designed for.
