Any reliabilty issues or problems w/ 2009 R8's...looking at one...

I have heard about a timing chain issue, true? Any other things I should look out for? Car has 40,000 on it. Thanks!

Frame cracks in the front. 2007 (EU), 2008, 2009, and some 2010 models. This will total the vehicle. When buying one of those early models, do not buy it if they won't allow a "frunk-removal" PPI by a professional R8 tech. They don't all break, but you do not want to buy it and then be the owner of a totaled car. Then there's the shocks, if it has mag-ride and they're leaking. . .$$$. Let's not forget the AC compressor. That's a big-ticket item too. However, I haven't heard of any timing chain problems.

A/C compressor, mag ride, and front shock welds. Each is in excess fo 10K$ total, and the frame cracking is a total loss and stated. Buy a Fidelity Platinum warranty to cover it all properly.
