    Exhaust Recommendations 3.0T

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everyone, I’m just curious peoples experience with exhaust and options for the 3.0T. I’m looking to add a little volume but don’t want it to be too loud. I have considered AWE touring, but it sounds like to get a little more mild sound you’d have to add the resonated downpipe as well. Anyone have any setups they enjoy that isn’t over the top? I would like to add a little tone but nothing crazy. Thanks

I debated this too back when I had my 3.0t. I was going to go with the AWE touring but I did daily drive the car and didn't want it to be TOO loud.

IMO the AWE touring set up (with factory downpipes) is not too loud at all. If you want a slightly quieter set up then maybe look into getting a factory S6 sport exhaust.

The AWE Touring is awesome, but i certainly wouldn't go as far as saying it's extremely quiet by any means, especially with the stock downpipes. That's def a subjective assessment based on what you're used to or what suits you. I have that exhaust in my A7 and it's quite loud under load in low rpms (under 3K rpm), and i ended up adding the AWE resonated down pipes with the larger resonators to smooth down the tone in that range - and people who are not used to exhausts still find it loud. The tone def gets smoother and more refined when you get on it at 3K rpms and up. I can't speak to the sound in an A6, given it's closed off trunk.

I guess it’s what you’re used to. I’m used to extremely obnoxious loud haha

There is a thread about removing the suit case exhaust, in there p3u said he just removed the suitcase exhaust and was left with a great sounding exhaust. He straight piped where it was and did NOT add an X-pipe or H-pipe because there is a factory X pipe built in above the brace that is a bit in front of the suitcase.

    See this Thread:
    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/789964-Who-s-deleted-the-suitcase-muffler-off-their-A6-3-0t

Then see his video of the exhuast that is about a third of the way down on that first page. Not the one with quad tips. And of course, sound on.

His exhaust sounds really good to me and he says he has no droning issues whatsoever.

or you can do what I have (post 12)
I did it in 2 steps.
1st. Dual to Quad this will be slightly louder than OEM (and I mean slightly, but noticeable)
2nd: Remove center muffler and X-pipe it.

You opened up the stubs right? I'm thinking of doing this too. I already did the suitcase delete and it's pretty good so far.

Thanks Everyone, sounds like maybe AWE touring with the resonated downpipes is the way to go. I will do a little more research on the x pipe as well. I just daily drive and don't need my fiance on my case about how loud it is lol...

Absolutely agree - I did exactly the same - added resonated downpipes having installed the AWE Touring backpipes and found them both too loud and very very droney.
Put it another way - SWMBO now completely approves of the sound (except when giving it the beans!) - previously I had to avoid anything over 2K revs when she was in the car.
So yes - this is all very subjective - I'm a 'mature' 50 something - but I'm happy that I've now got a meaty sounding machine in normal driving and a bit of a beast when pushing on.

So, did you get rid of the AWE for something else?

AWE's exhaust systems are a great system if you are looking for a daily livable system. Without repeating everyone else, they are a great upgrade when it comes to tone and sound as they do not induce heavy drone but you will get a good increase in the quality of sound!

We have these kits in stock and can have them shipped out to you same day! Feel free to PM me with any questions!

Only problem with this one is that you have to get a new rear valence to fit them since I'm assuming its an A6 since we are in the C7 section. Looks really nice though.

The A6 already has an X pipe you don’t need a second one

I put the AWE Quad on my 3.0TT, along with an S7 diffuser to support the twin outlets.

Definitely recommend that route, and there are regular deals to be had from AWE dealers.

I had the brief case removed and added an xpipe right after the hpipe and did a muffler delete, the car sounded cool but the drone was pretty bad on long trips cruising at 2k rpms

I mean the car sounded amazing at high rpms. I just changed that setup by replacing the small resonators with vibrant super quiet resonators and then did 2.5” pipe the rest of the way
