Driver power window is not working 2011 A3 Quattro

    Dear Forum Mates,
The front left power window at my Audi A3 2011 suddenly stopped working and this winter. Probably my wife was pushing the button on the switch when the window was frozen, so the window is stuck in closed position. All other windows and switches work as usual. I took the door card off and tested the motor and the switch. When I hit the button on the switch, something clicks in the control unit (part of the motor assembly), but the motor does not engage. After I took apart the motor assembly and connected the motor directly to the battery, it was running well.
I have no access to VCDS, but maybe you could give me an idea of what could be broken?
I think it is either the switch or that window control unit (microchip).
If it is the control unit, they are not sold separately. Are those interchangeable? Can I put 8P0 959 801 P assembly instead of 8P0 959 801 Q?

    Thanks a lot!

I can't say for sure, but I have a 2013 A3 Quattro that did the same thing. It started working the next day though. I am pretty sure it was my switch because none of my windows would go down from the driver side switch but worked well otherwise. I am going to get an OEM switch from the cheapest OEM Audi parts place I know about. https://www.audiusaparts.com/auto-pa...ront-door-scat
You will find your switch there. When I go to the dealer now I tell them how much I pay for the same part which is about the same price the dealer pays for it.

    Good Luck

Bw5011, thank you for the idea. The thing is that all other windows can go down from the driver switch. Basically, I only cannot lower the driver window

Ok, got a new window control module and motor assembly with the same item number 8P0 959 801 Q. After the installation, the driver window button lowers the passenger side window. All other buttons are not working. I know it was previously installed on the passenger side door.

Does anyone know if it can be reprogrammed to work with the driver side switch?

Just a quick update - it was broken wiring in the driver door loom. Figured it out after getting VCDS, reprogramming that new window motor and checking for error codes. There was one for CAN bus. After repair, everything works well!
