The SQ gets a friend! Back in an RS5 but w/ Competition this time around, just picked it up today & loving the crap out of it so far. I did not give the changes vs non-comp credit, will post up a longer thread once I've got some more miles.

SQ is lowered and looks like it's a monster truck in comparison, hah, and the RS comp suspension somehow still handles it better than my last non-comp and even better than the lowered air suspension SQ? I underestimated the suspension, good stuff.

Thanks! Haha, I do I do. The SQ is actually Glacier White but it's filthy and looks gray next to the Nardo RS.... Buuut I also had a Nardo RS7, so I am a fan.

My first RS5 was Navarra though and I loved that color, I'm a sucker for deep blues.

Very nice, congrats! It looks awesome! I just had an order for one factory accepted a few weeks ago. These couple sentences have me even more excited now. I'm looking forward to reading your write up about your experience so far.

Congrats Chase! And yeah, the Comp suspension is really good. Hit me up if needed. 😎

Thank you! Good luck with your delivery. I had a '22 non-comp at the beginning of that model year and it's been a journey since then to say the least. This is a close out '23 that I paid less for than my '22, snagged it for 89. I didn't give the changes in the comp it's due but a handful of positive reviews (ThrottleHouse on YT did a great comparison) swayed my opinion and now that I have it, 100% worth it. The interior alcantara is better than I expected, I love the matte carbon is inside and out now, the wheels look great in person... But the suspension! And the exhaust is louder, startup or idle, and I haven't gotten into it WOT yet.

I took it out this morning for an early morning empty streets feeler drive and it doesn't matter if it's low speed turns or giving it a little 35MPH slalom, the steering rack ratio is fixed now and the suspension is immediately noticable in the steering wheel in Comfort, just really sharp turn-in. I haven't messed with the suspension settings yet but as it sits it's eating up bumps and imperfections like nothing, it's surreal for the teeny tiny sidewall on the corsa's and it's lower than the non-comp. In Comfort my last RS5 wasn't that forgiving or settled over the same crappy roads, still just kind of amazed by it, hah. Going to put some spacers & my JB4 on it and call it a day!

Looks great! Too bad about no carbon ceramics as they make a big difference (and especially paired with the Comp package).

TY! First Audi of any of them that sits this well stock. This should be the bar to be an RS car IMO, they're (VAG) clearly capable of the engineering.

I wouldn't have bought the car if it had carbon ceramics. I don't track the cars other than 1/4 drags (in addition to my fun local canyon carving) and daily driving the steelies are better behaved in the cold. Across my C8 RS7, three F90 M5C's (which is a much, much faster car) and now two B9 RS5's, I've specifically bought only the steel brakes on all of them, and they've all otherwise been maxed out spec wise.. The carbons aren't worth the up front cost (or identical depreciation cliff) as quickly as I change vehicles, and I can personally guarantee you that the steelies slow down from 150MPH+ all the same, haha.

If you plan on keeping the car for years, you beat on it on the actual Autobahn on the daily, or it's a regular at your local HDPE track event, I wholly endorse the ceramics up front cost. Otherwise the steelies bite harder and immediately when cold and are better suited for daily driving (and aggressive use) if you regularly swap cars before 10K miles like I do, and you'll never notice the difference in performance in that scenario. Save the monies and spend it on mods or the next down payment, lol.

Different strokes for different folks for sure. I've owned S and RS models with and without CCBs and I don't keep cars long either. Personally I like the feel of the CCBs over steel brakes at least on Audis. I drive my cars all winter and have never had an issue with reduced braking power (the only time is when coming out of a carwash for the first few stops). The unsprung weight definitely helps on an otherwise heavy front end of the RS5.

Def different strokes but will never deny the unsprung mass reduction on the CCB's, and they're perfect for any of the cases I mentioned. In the US market for me it's not worth the investment cost; it's nothing that you feel day to day vs the steelies (other than the poor cold weather on CCB's, which I have noticed on test drives and in friends' M's) in your time enjoying the car. I've driven multiple models of P car, M, and RS with and without them, doesn't matter if the car happens to panic stop one or two or even five car lengths sooner with the CCB's...that difference can be made up more affordably with better tires (the stupid sticky 275 P Zero Corsa's on the comp w/ steelies in a few YT vid tests vs the non-comp, as an example) because tires are what stop cars, but also because you just aren't measuring that sort of thing when having fun in your car unless your day job is to be Matt Watson haha.

For me personally, I've always only considered CCB's on a killer deal on a baaaarely used trade in (up to 1 year old & less than ~2K miles, any car, not just RS or Audi) that's already eaten the depreciation cliff because dealers unfortunately don't give af to value the cars any more as a trade w/ the CCB's. I've now shuffled through a bakers dozen S, RS, and BMW M models since the beginning of 2020 and I've got sales friends at a couple of dealers that shuffle through cars just as regularly (some even more-so!) and they always mention the same thing, don't get CCB's, you won't get what you want for it on the trade.

To me, if you're not in the bucket I first mentioned above, they're more like an individualized paint color, get it because it's what you want and you think it looks sexy, not because it's significantly better than one or the other, and certainly not because it's cheaper. I flogged the friggin' bananas out of my first '21 M5 Comp on steelies and that thing ran a 10.48 @ 131MPH w/ nothing but a JB4 on pump gas, it literally got to 130MPH from a stop in 11 seconds w/o a launch if you didn't let up and I could beat the daylights out of those brakes over and over w/o fade, if it's enough for that car, it's enough for any car. (...but, like I said, generally less than 10K miles of ownership, w/o a doubt the next dealer was picking up the tab on that brake job...so maybe get the CCB's, lol)

Looking like a snack as per ush, nomnom.

Done some more logging and playing around with the JB4 and it's interesting it only really does anything on map 1 below 4K RPM and then ECU PSI and requested become the same, on map 2 (+3PSI) though it still looks clean on pump 92 in our cool winter air and it's a big difference down low, it's much more torque-y from a stop and the logs show it's adding an extra 3-4PSI over ECU requested below 4K and it tappers off to +2PSI by redline. Feels noticable over stock and should be 11.3 @ 120 territory with a good launch, will do some more runs after the holiday once I'm back in town. It's just more fun to drive with the extra instant torque down low.

Had to snag an APR intake on their Black Friday sale (...and let's be real probs will snag another 034 91 tune like they all get before the weekend is over, hah) that will be waiting for me once I get back, wasn't available yet on my last one.

    Happy Thanksgiving week y'all!

Decent weather in February is rare in Nebraska...50 to 60 degrees for the next week means the car can come out and get some sunshine!
