I have a '19 RS5 Coupe with the standard suspension( which I really like). Can you describe the noticeable improvements in handling from your mods?

It’s been a long time since I drove our car without the suspension mod (034 springs). What I recall is little to no noticeable difference in ride quality. I remember thinking how much the two were a like in terms of ride quality.

I had a very light morning with work yesterday, so I went for a 150 mile, wife-less/kid-less mountain drive for the first time in 6+ months. Definitely making it a point to do that more often. I nearly forgot how fun this car can be, when it's fully unleashed.

Color me green with envy…or maybe I should say silver and green. Partly for being in Colorado and partly for the silver car. I lived just outside of Boulder between 2001 and 2007 and regret the day I moved away. Silver is my favorite car color and would’ve chosen that for our RS5 if we’d ordered it rather taken what was available at the end of the year.

Truly, thanks for the photos. Pretty sure those are the Flatirons there in the distance near Boulder, right? Put a smile on my face as I sit in the infusion center…

Yep! Those are the Flatirons. Last year we had our house built 5 minutes East of Boulder (in Eire). Coming from the Parker area, we absolutely love it up here.

Since you're imagining being back here, I'll paint the picture of yesterday's cruise for you...

70 degrees & partly cloudy: I drove directly West through Boulder, up to Nederland, through the canyons to Lyons, then back down Foothills Parkway through Boulder to go snap the above pics on HWY 93, before heading back home. It was an excellent drive that I'm going to start doing MUCH more often.

Ah man, I've driven that exact route many, many times. Sometimes to mt. bike off of HWY 93, sometimes on my now long gone motorcycle. I sure miss Colorado and the Rockies...

I agree 100%, it really comes alive at 9/10s and feels like a much more agile car than normal driving would suggest.

Until yesterday, I'd been driving so tame with family always with me, that I began seriously considering trading the car in for a nice truck to make every day life a bit easier. But yesterday's drive re-opened my eyes to why I own cars like this. I just have to start getting out to drive it to it's true potential more often.

To me, this is why I bought this car. It is like a beautiful family car when just carrying people and doing stuff. But when I did that 1.1 G corner and step on it once in a while, it is also a beast as well!

It's a sleeper, to most people. It isn't a car that you see everyday on the road, so people don't really know that it can be that fast. My neighbors did not know that I changed from my S4 to the RS5, since the colors are the same. The stealth factor.

No kidding. I've been driving my car on 40-120 mile exercise runs around Boston since April 2020. It has been my primary CV19 relief pastime until I finally got vaccinated this March. It is a marvelous, comfortable DD with plenty of cargo space (if you have a SB), and a spectacular performance car when you turn it loose. It's far more agile and neutral in its handling than one might suspect. I took my neighbor for a spin this afternoon in the Boston suburbs; hit the on-ramps and off-ramps at some speed when traffic permitted (one off-ramp at 0.8g). He called me three hours later and said he was still tingling; it was the greatest shot of adrenaline he's had since jumping out of a hot-air balloon in 1994.

In the winter the roads are so bad in my neighborhood that I can't safely get the RS5 out of the driveway. There was a point this last winter where I literally forgot I even owned an RS5. Once the roads cleared up and I could drive it again, it was an instant addiction all over again. Such an amazing car if you can get it away from traffic for a bit (easy to do in Montana...).

That’s my issue in the winter. Ground clearance. At least 3 times this last winter, I was stuck at home while my wife took her SUV to work. I couldn’t leave my neighborhood without risk of cracking the front bumper on massive ice chunks. And the neighbors refuse to chip in for proper plowing.

Between that, wanting to get back into camping more and seemingly always needing to haul large items around from Home Depot, furniture stores etc., a nice truck to supplement the RS5 would really come in handy for me.

But then my mind continues to wander and I think, if I’m gonna get a truck to handle the necessity/bad weather driving, I may as well trade the RS5 in on a Cayman GT4 or something similar.

    Decisions, decisions…

I know your pain. I loved my RS5 SB, but the ground clearance was meh at best and yet it was still better than my TTRS. I let go of the RS5 and got an SQ5. I had that just long enough to register it and then I just let them both go and got an RSQ8.

Finally brought her out of hibernation since February (combination of working from home and getting my driveway done and stupidly leaving the car in the garage lol). It felt new again to drive!
