    My RS5 came with an A5 owner's manual

    Hello everyone. I have been a long time member of the Audi family but moved away to a Panamera for a while. As of last week, I am back in a Nevaro Blue RS5 sportback.

    Today I was trying to figure out why the Active Tach (green/yellow/red shift lights) only shows up in the gauge cluster and not in the HUD when in manual mode.
    Couldn't figure it out, so went to check the owner's manual but was surprised to see a 2019 Audi A5 manual! At first i thought maybe Audi is cheaping out on making a separate owner's manual for RS models. But i think the features and equipments that i have on my car are not even listed in the manual. The manual is not even for a sportback A5.

    So, I decided to ask here if anyone can verify if the RS5 actually comes with its own owner's manual or someone decides to sell an A5 with RS5 owner's manual as an optional feature?

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/KFRQnmxUvUDXnaNp8

    Oh, I am still wondering why HUD does not show the shift light. Anyone?

    Yes, it appears the A5, S5 and RS5 all get the same A5 owner's manual. Audi is cutting cost where they can. You can enter your VIN at the URL below to get the online user manual and every RS5 VIN I've used so far brings up the same A5 owner's manual. The A5 and S5 as far as I know always shared a user manual, but the last generation RS5 had a unique owner's manual just for the RS5.

    Same here. I also don’t appreciate the A5 vehicle graphic used in the MMI!

    I wish the HUD had it. My only solution was to configure the dash to have the tach large and in the middle of the dash.

    Yes, this is just laziness and/or oversight on Audi’s part. It wouldn’t be hard or cost very much at all for each MMI vehicle graphic to accurately depict each individual car. I mean at least get the color right!

    I test drove an RS5 couple of weeks ago, I am pretty sure the HUD showed the shift light. Or maybe I'm hallucinating ?!

    Ok, Thanks for confirming it. I just can't figure out for the life of me why I doesn't come up on the HUD

    Isn't there a RS specific HUD display mode like there is a RS specific virtual cockpit (VC) display mode? Maybe you have to switch to that mod for the HUD first? Also I know the shift lights don't show on the VC unless you're in manual mode for the transmission. Would assume the same has to happen for the HUD too.

    It only shows on the HUD menu when you press the HUD button to show your lap time meter. If I have it in the standard lane menu it doesn't show.

    You are correct, it does have the shift lights. I was hoping for a rev counter but I'm just being picky. :)

    I never read the manual - I asked the sales rep to configure my dash with the tach in the middle and thanked him for his time <grin>. So, now that I've learned that a second button press bring up a HUD with shift lights, what exactly is being shown in it? I see the following:
    * engine temp
    * D, S, or current gear when in Manual Mode
    * shift lights
    * something that I don't recognize, it seems to show a pause symbol and a time and this is at the top directly underneath the shift lights.

    My question is: what is that thing at the top with the pause symbol and time? I see it regardless if I have my phone with me or not. I've never played any music or media files outside of Android Auto so if I don't have my phone, what is it? I know of no other media that's been played in my car. I did look in the manual but it doesn't seem to describe it.

    I think it's part of the lap timer feature...

    I get a kick out of it. I have an RS3 and I love seeing the little A3 graphic / A3 on the owners manual.
