    2016 vs 2017 S7

I know this has been discussed but can’t find it. I’m looking for a used S7 right now and told myself to wait for a 2017 model but I found a low mileage 2016 that might fit the bill. Prestige, Sport package, black optic, driver assistance. Other than the red calipers is there anything different between the 16 and 17 with these packages? Is the nav/MMI different at all? Thanks for your help!!!!

Also the ability to have map display is cluster without having a destination entered in navi
Edit: apparently map can be displayed on MY16 too

Ok cool thanks!! A quick follow up question, what month/year did they start putting the updated oil strainer in?

Ditto on the CarPlay / Android Auto

My 2016 has the map display without a destination, so that was part of the move to the MMI 4G between 15 and 16.

MY17 is included in the strainer TSB. no matter what year you go with, you potentially have a risk. lesser risk with later production date though.

Is there a way to find out if this 2016 I’m looking at has the strainer TSB?

Just making sure I was clear as that is not usually taken as hood news.

All s6/s7/rs7 are affected by the TSB. this does not mean it was fixed. Generally, the screen (cause of TSB) is not replaced until the turbos have failed.

Oh haha. Ok then!!! But they did start to put the newer strainer in the new cars starting in 2016 correct?

A newer strainer...yes. but still not the supposed final/fix stainer. all MY17 cars are part of the TSB as well.

I'd like to assume that if a car your looking at had the strainer replaced in the last year or so...you'll be good. But for all we know Audi may release an updated strainer. After the 6 or so revisions of the part so far, I dont have much faith that they actually fixed it, but rather just improved it.

There's no evidence the newest part revision of the strainer is any less clog-prone. Just look for the car with the fewest miles, cared for the best, preferably with service history (and, ideally, documented OCIs <10,000 mi) and no Roc-Euro intakes because or other ineffective sketch mods.

Brake calipers were power coated red for cars with the S-Sport package from 2017-on and exhaust tips were finished gloss black. It's your best visual indicator the car has the sport differential.

2016 has the black finishers as well with the sport package correct? Sounds good about the strainers, it looks like this will always be a problem with these cars.

I'd say there might not be conclusive evidence, but the change in design is clearly a less restrictive one, this latest "G" revision is definitely free-er flowing than the previous versions...

Ok cool thanks for the info. It Looks like the car was manufactured 03/16 so hopefully the newer strainer was installed during the initial build.

Many dates are thrown around, but I haven't come across anyone's ride that has the "G" revision strainer from the factory. 16 and 17's are part of the TSB, doubt either of them will have the latest "G" revision strainer. Better to just factor in the funds for
the replacement of the screen on whatever C7 you buy to give you some reliability and peace of mind, especially if you are going to tune it or have little to no warranty left on it..
