Angry PLEASE HELP!! Locked my ONLY key in my 2013 A5 Cabriolet trunk this morning...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So! I was attaching the plate to my new vehicle. I had opened the trunk while I was doing this and set the keys inside. Oops! DAMMIT! I closed the trunk leaving the f***ing key in there.

I called a locksmith and 30 minutes he was here using a bladder to reach in and pull the inside door latch. Door opened! YAY! But, the car alarm started going off.

I tried opening the glove box, which was now locked??? (Is this a security feature?) So I pried it open with a screwdriver (I HAD TO LOOK FOR THAT EMERGENCY KEY!) -- but the emergency key isn't there -- I bought the car used and only received the one key fob that is in the trunk.

Now I am trying to figure out how to disable the car alarm immobilization stuff -- how can I do that without the key!?

And with the immobilization active, it appears that the internal door locks will not unlock the trunk!

Also, I have tried to find a way to get into the trunk via the back seats, but it appears the only way to set the rear seatbacks down is through the trunk also!

So am I screwed or what? PLEASE! I cannot believe that I am the only one who has had this happen to them.

I had to be at a court date this morning. So this is happening at the worst time in my life right now. I'm now 3 hours late -- and I hope that a warrant isn't issued for my arrest. Double damn!!! FML!

Pull Out the fuse for horn/alarm, should give you more time to search.
Once the time is not an issue, you can remove/unbolt rear seats from the inside. First remove the bottom cushion to get to bracket in the middle.

I am one step ahead of you. I did try doing this. I pulled out the fuse marked as "12 - Anti-theft warning system - 5 amp" in the manual. Guess what? When I pulled that, the alarm sounded! There must be another one that I am missing....

    Any ideas?

I may just start to do this. I pulled up the seats and then I cracked the face surrounding the cup holders. I will need to figure out how to work around those dang things and then figure out where the bolts are the for the seats.

There is supposed to be a feature that prevents. I know I did it once with my cab and I think the system chirped when I closed the trunk lid though buzzing through some of the threads below, there are situations where this can occur. Sorry I did not read enough to see how to resolve where you are at. Google and there are other web posts

So after getting into your glove box, is your Valet button lit up? Usually that would prevent the trunk from being opened using the button on the door. Unless the system automatically goes into valet mode when the alarm is triggered as a security measure? I'm not actually sure on whether or not that's a feature.

There would be no way for the glovebox to lock itself on the coupes since there's no power to the lock and it's all mechanical. I'd be shocked if the Cab was any different than the coupe in that regard.

Sorry if this is totally unhelpful, but if the car has remote key access, would it not be able to start if the key is in the trunk?

Nope, the valet light was not illuminated. I pressed it and it turned on and I immediately turned it back off (to be sure that it was off!). And I am not sure about how the damn glove box was locked. I do see that there is a mechnical key slot on it, but my wife swears to me that she didn't lock it -- she said, "WHY WOULD I DO THAT?". I believe her, and I certainly didn't do it. So I am just assuming it's another security measure for when the alarm is going off. And dammit! I am trying to rip out the rear seats now and it's looking like it is going to be a whole big ordeal to get them out. Shit, shit shit.....

On the bright side, the owner of the used car dealership I bought it from is a good friend and is on his way over with his main mechanic and they will assist me with the removal of the seats.

This is bizarre. My 2016 will not allow the key to be locked in the trunk. If I try to close the trunk with the key inside, it just pops open again and again.

I've heard this, but am too scared to try it on my 2013 with only 1 key

Just drop the back seat first, in case you need to get in that way.

On my 2013 S5 Cab, there is no button for the trunk, and the glove compartment locks automatically when you lock the doors.

I’ve done this but it allowed me to start the car so I could get home and pop the trunk with the spare key.

Pop your seats down before you try it, so you can still get to your keys?

So the cabs must be different than the coupes. I guess it's pretty cool that the glovebox locks automatically since people may be parking it with the top down. Cool feature until it bites you in the ass like this.

Do the cab seats actually fold down like the coupes do? My mom has an A5 cab, but I've never actually looked.

There are 2 latches inside the trunk that drop the back seats; I assume it's the same for the coupe?

Okay, I have to say, about the glovebox, it was easy to pop open with a screwdriver. I did find that one of the plastic "grommets" that fit into the side panel and that the locking mechanism shoots into to "lock" the thing was missing. And it didn't pop out on me, I am certain of that. So -- I wouldn't trust this as a very good protection of any valuable, or a spare key -- like the plastic key that was missing in my vehicle.

So! To complete this tale of woe -- I was able to make a quick fucking story of a solution! With a long magnetic pickup pole I quickly grabbed my keys by feeding the pole between the two rear seats. It was a bitch to pry open the seats with a very large flathead screwdriver, though. So I broke a sweat in the Florida sun.... I suppose I was lucky that I placed the keys directly in the center of the trunk instead of over to the side! And with the help of a very long set of pliers and my large flathead screwdriver prying the seats apart, I was able to retrieve the keys! OOOOH YEAH! Oh, the magic of having the correct tools! AND I WILL ALWAYS BE KEEPING MY TRUSTY MAGNETIC PICKUP POLE AROUND FOR THESE REASONS!!!

Here are some pics of the tools similar to what I used:

    Large flathead screwdriver

Magnetic pickup pole (mine was telescoping, and a bit harder to use than this solid one, for sure!)

    Huge needlenose pliers

I just needed to sit still and meditate a bit before I finally figured out my plan of attack! HAHAH! Isn't it funny how that shit works? When you are hot and pissed off like I was and worried about getting where I needed to be, I just wasn't thinking cool and calm and rationally.

Now, there is finally one bit of fixing that I'd like to do with this vehicle.

1 -- I want to replace the rear seats, the part that your butt goes onto that is so easy and light to pull. Are there any aftermarket or Audi parts that will fit in there that are relatively cheap?

2 -- The damned thing doesnt have bluetooth audio music from my phone, just the phone calls part. Has anyone tried one of these? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G38THN9...detail_2?psc=1 Are they worth the extra money versus buying some shitty fucking radio interface? I want to use the steering wheel to skip songs and have the song names pop up on the radio! I am not sure what radio I have in this thing, but I am pretty sure that anyone with a similar 2013 A5 who has this working could tell me if what this thing advertises will work in the year/model I have.

3 -- All of the electrical outlets including the cigarette lighter thing under the radio with the sliding lid over the ashtray is not working (the one in the armrest and the one behind the armrest/console facing the backseat). Which fuse is it? I've looked at the list of fuses from the the manual (which I have posted above ^^^^^) and I just cannot figure out which one I need to pull and change? Is it the one labeled Auxillary fuse (instrument panel)?

THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP TODAY! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT! SO MANY GOOD IDEAS! I was about to pull the seats out, I'm very glad I didn't have to do that though. :-) ^5

Yes, but you can also fold the rear seats down in the coupe from inside the cabin, not just from the trunk.

Solution for this problem, the key FOB locked in trunk 2015 Audi S5 Cabriolet.

The solution is if you can start the ignition button, then HOLD the top up or down button so the top starts and the boot cover goes up to the almost vertical position, then let go of the button and the boot will stay open and stationary. Go outside to the boot/top holding area and push the compartment bladder down, normally one does this inside the trunk, now there are two corners that allow you to place your arm inside the trunk and fish out the key FOB. If you can‘t reach you can you some rod our device to move the side so you can reach the keys. I did this and is t worked great.
