Audi A4 B7 under boost code P0299 fix for FREE!!! (wastegate flap only)

I have found a way to adjust the wastegate flap on the b7 Audi a4. I checked to see if my diverter valve was bad after getting code P0299, and it wasn't. So i check my wastegate flap and it was loose. Below is a video with the steps I used to fix the problem for free!

You will also need to remove the turbo which I will post the link here

The factory wastegate setting is set at a predetermined crack pressure/preload. What you did was just adjust the wastegate over its set pretension to mask a defective part. Hey, if it’s working for you roll with it. I just found this wastegate flap repair kit on eBay and I’ll probably pick up a kit for my broken K03 that I want to turn into a hybrid K04 😀

I had this code come up once. The air filter was filthy. Never came back after cleaning it and maintaining it.

You require k04 hotside to hybrid a k04. You don’t need the item you’ve listed to do a hybrid. It won’t make sense to run billet k04 compressor with k03 turbine. The turbine sizes aren’t correct this way. You could make your hybrid using a Mazda 881 turbo but you will require both k04 chra and turbine housing.

Interested in how that seller suggest drilling out the oem flapper. I’ve tried this on a number of completely failed turbine housings. None ended as sucessfully as one would hope. But this is a complete replace likely easier. Most flapper issues I’ve seen aren’t due to the flapper itself but the through hole becomes an oval, so new gate is great but may not be correct the problem as a wobble gate is a non closing gate.

Well, we will see what happens. This “project” (if I can even call it that 🤣) will be during my free time which I don’t have much of. And I do need the flapper since mine is broken.

What I do have is a very amazing micro welder at my disposal and access to very nice CNC equipment. It will be fun making the attempt no matter what the outcome. 😀

At the very least I’ll have a back up working K03 for my wife’s car.

At the most I’ll have a plan for if or when my JHM turbo blows up 🤣🤣

Cool if you wanna know what does fit with what easily I already have some info. The hardest thing is stuffing the k04 turbine into anything other then a k04 hotside. I’m pretty sure there was some clipping done to turbines in the past and attempted machining of the hotside but there’s just not enough meat in the k03 to safely machine enough out of it.

That’s cool. I could pick up a K04 housing cheap enough. My main concern is fixing the manifold/flapper play. If I have to bore out the hole for the flapper fix from turbolabs to fix it properly, not just throw a bandaid on it, that’s easy enough to locate and drill or ream. I can have any size reamer or carbide mill made real cheap or it can be bored out or drilled and I can hold pretty tight tollerences with the equipment I have access to. Or it can be welded up and drilled. I use a very precise micro welder for my day job and he fixes casting molds and very complex jigs on a daily basis.

As long as I have a working exhaust housing and wastegate flapper, the hard and not easily replaced part is done. I can make a decision based off of what I find.

And are you sure you can’t stuff K04 guts in a K03 housing? A couple of the turbo rebuild shops offer it as a K03 upgrade. As a matter of fact, vvenom800tt is sending his K03 out for a K04 upgrade. G Pop Shop quoted him $750 for a K04 spec K03 rebuild.
