    What’s a good, replacement battery for B8 A4?

    I typically get my batteries through advance auto as they seem to always have multiple discounts you can add to you order online and get them way cheaper. Then just pick
    Up in store. Just a got a replacement for my GF’s b8 and it was $140 after I got the core deposit back.

    I grabbed a Duralast Platinum H8-AGM from AutoZone. It was near $200. I didn't do any "recoding" and no problems the last 6 months. I'm in Chicago and it easily got me thru -10 degree weather.

    Autocraft at advance auto are made by johnson controls or excide and you can use a 25% off coupon if you buy it online and pick up in store. They have H7, H8 and H9 in lead acid and AGM.

    Check the price of the OEM battery (both Audi & VW dealers).

    It likely lasted around 8 years, and most P/Ns are actually competitive with the aftermarket.

    Agreed. The last three batteries that I have purchased have been from the local VW dealer. Prices have been competitive and the OEM batteries are damn good compared to anything else on the market. .

    This is shown on the production code label in the spare tire well. Factory battery codes format is Jxx, e.g., our 2014 A4 has code J0Z (520A).

    I needed to look into this recently, too. Our local Costco doesn't carry any H8 or H9 batteries, so looked into the AutoCraft 95R/H9 520A battery, it was identical to the original Varta battery, had a BEM sticker with part number 000915105DL, and was almost $60 less than the same VAG part number before any AA discounts.

    One for a 97 Passat VR6, one or my 03 A4 and 0ne for my 09 CC VR6. Still running the original OEM battery in my 13 A5.
