External Vacuum Source - RS5 Valved Exhaust for TRUE closed valve startup

Here is what my plan of attack is:

I'm buying a valved exhaust that is electronically controlled, and the OEM vacuum pump is unable to pull vacuum until 2 seconds after starting, or at least it doesn't. I don't believe there is a way to change that, so the valves are open for an initial "Bark" when starting. However, with this system I don't want that, I would rather have valves closed on startup or the option of valves open.

Gthaus has an external vacuum pump that taps into the 12v accessory line, which means that with ACC on, then the pump would pull vacuum. This would mean that I could theoretically close the valves for startup if I was in a garage, etc. It's a pretty penny for what it is, but it seems like it gives me both the remote control option and quiet startups. It can also be hardwired to battery, but I would simply piggyback the 12v ACC fuse located in the same place I would put the vacuum pump. Seems easy enough.

Am I stupid? Please tell me if you know more about pnuematics and electronics than I do, because I'm just taking a stab in the dark here. Basically I want to startup valves closed, and currently there is no way to do this from what I can see unless I change the limitation in the system, which is the vacuum pump (as it is controlled by MMI with no settings to change startup behavior).

For those interested here is the description from website:

Vacuum Pump With Wireless Remote [For GTC (V.C) Only]
Creates a separate vacuum, eliminating the need to tap into the vacuum source from the engine.

Includes a wireless remote module and pair of key fob remotes. Replaces standard hardwire switch, ONE TOUCH action (press to control).

*Note: To fully open and close the valves, only a single touch of a button is required.

EDIT: I might be stupid, because if the exhaust is electronically controlled then this external vacuum pump wouldn't be able to connect to the exhaust system in question? Would it cause me to need the remotes for the valves and the pump itself? Basically, I could have the pump running but then the electronic valves are telling themselves to stay open/shut, whereas the pump for GThaus hooks up into a pneumatic system forcing the valves open/shut depending on just the vacuum itself. I don't know haha someone give me some insight

You know there are valve controllers specifically for the RS5 out there that are plug n play right?

The remote valve controller still doesn’t allow the valves to close until a vacuum is created so in this case that won’t help you.

You need a valve that relaxes closed so you can either take your system to a machine shop and see if they can reverse the linkage so it’s sprung closed then opens with vacuum but then you’d still need the remove vacuum controller to enable the valve to open at higher rpm.

Capristo does a programmable valve controller: http://www.capristo.de/en/exhaustsys...mierbar-tuev-8

Yeah I have that controller, it doesn't close at start up as vacuum has to build. My solution to kill the very loud cold start bark (neighborhood isn't cool with the full cold start lol) was to install a resonated x pipe where the downpipes resonators were... this deepens the tone of a the exhaust a lot and makes the bark more of a bass-y type bellow that is much easier sound for neighbors to handle as it loses the hard sharpness that travels so far.

If you close the valves, and shut off the car, do they stay closed or do they open up?

So like James said you could set it up to close instead of open. But this would mean it's always closed on startup. This would be considered a "spring return" valve which is set up to "fail closed". To convert it to "fail open" you would need to remove the actuator, rotate the stem 90 degrees, and reassemble. I've done this at work, but I work with industrial valves for a chemical plant. I would imagine the concept is similar though. The only thing you might run in to is however you control it, "closed" will be open and "open" will be closed.
