    I just ran 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, but I'm only stage 1?

So I got Ecu and DSG tuned to stage 1 at 034 motorsports the other day and I decided to do a launch to see how it felt.

I used an app called drag racer to measure my times. The app uses GPS, and from what I can tell is pretty accurate.

Other than my tune the only mods I have are a modified stock intake, resonator delete, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The app clocked me at 3.6 seconds, and from my understanding our cars don't really hit mid 3's until you're at stage 2. I also notice some gurgles and crackles and pops when I let off the gas at low rpms while in sport mode. I don't have a downpipe, so the crackles are pretty subtle, but I always thought you only started getting that at stage 2 as well.

    My question is:

Has anyone else ran these type of numbers while at stage 1?
Anyone else get subtle crackles and pops at stage 1?

Is it possible they could have loaded the wrong tune? I called to confirm I'm stage 1 and the guy who tuned it said I'm stage 1 and not to worry. And i'm definitely not complaining; the car sounds and feels awesome. I'm just surprised at the 0-60 time and worried about the effects on my car if I somehow did get a stage 2 tune but i'm still running the stock downpipe.

    Thoughts?

A stage 1 S3 should not be capable of 3.6 on a flat surface, no matter the surface prep. Likely a significant downhill run, which Dragy would show.

Also that app is a 1HZ GPS, where the Dragy is 10HZ.

I seen many people posting their times, some with after aftermarket electronic devices and gauges. It appears that they are all optimistic with the exception of draggy. I think that a stage 1 is more of a high 3 sec. I had a stage 1 and a stage 2 S3. stage 2 made a huge difference but Stage 1 was also very quick but I guarantee you that it wasn't a 3.6 sec 0-60 car with just a stage 1.
8V RS3 [email protected] mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)
    at 3100ft elevation

Thanks for the reply, I did a few more runs and was logging around 3.8-3.9. Were you getting the crackle and pops with your stage 1/stock downpipe?

^^ it was a quiet car, even quiet with the APR catted downpipes.

    Smirk -
I did a few launches with my 2015 S3 last summer (65-70F outside); APR stage 1 ECU/TCU, APR intake, Leyo diverter, 034 dog bone mount, ECS dog bone, 034 springs, and resonator delete. Using P3 VIDI vent gauge (OBDII connected) which has a feature for timing 0-60, I did 3 back to back runs: 3.99, 4.08, 4.19.

Only noise I get with my APR stage 1 ECU/TCU is burbs on upshifts. no crackles/pops.

My best Dragy, hope it hooks up better when it gets warmer here, also without an incline. Saw there was an S3 with a 2.9 in the leaderboards.

To the OP, compare 0-10, 0-30/etc between yours and mine and it will show you how inaccurate that app is.

For sure. To be honest I don't really car what the exact 0-60 is; more so I am concerned about whether or not the guy at the shop uploaded the right tune. I definitely have crackles and pops in sport mode and it seems like no one else with stage 1 has that. My main question is if I should go back to the shop or if there are any detrimental effects running a stage 2 without a downpipe as I am starting to suspect that I am.

No that is only available with the stage 2 tune from my understanding.

If it’s only in sport it’s programed to do so.

Did you work out if you were on Stage 1 or 2? i'm considering the 034 tune.

These cars don't get faster with a Stage 2 tune and no downpipe, that's not how it works. You'd have check engine lights without the downpipe and most likely the car would run worse.

Yeah I think I probably am stage 1, which is a relief, but I still can't explain having the pops and bangs considering that is only an option on the stage 2 tunes.

However I did buy a dragy and the numbers I've run so far looks more like a stage 1. Right around a 4 sec 0-60.
