    2018 RS5 revving properly in neutral/parking mode

    Hey guys!

I'd like to show two revving videos and please explain the difference.
First is me trying, but clearly doing something wrong compared to the second one, which sounds much much better (without the high pitch sound).

Both should be stock rs5 without any exhaust upgrade!

    Me:

    Second one: (from 0:40)

My first though was maybe the engine wasn't warmed up enough, but had a trip just before and oil temperature should be ok and in the second video they say they couldn't even drive the RS5 due to summer wheels, so i guess that engine is not that "warmed up" anyways.
When I put in neutral / in parking with dynamic mode sounds like the valves are closing. Then i switch to comfort and back to dynamic and sounds a bit different, but this time i did this as well, so I guess it must be something with how i dose the gas with the pedal??

    Any thoughts? Cheers!

I think what you are describing is normal. Mine is the loudest and holds the flaps open for a rev like than when I have the car in full dynamic sport mode then I put it into Neutral. If I remember correctly, putting it into park does partially close the valves but I don't think it closes them completely.

Both sound terrible. Revving stationary is awful. A car needs to be under load to get the proper sound. I cringe every time I hear someone sitting still revving an engine. The fake overrun is a whole other gripe.

you cannot say it sounds terrible lol, second one sounds absolutely amazing, even Audi does this in their RS5 debut video, and you cannot show me an RS5 owner who havent done this, but i totally agree its not good for the car.

I definitely don't wanna do this frequently, I just want to understand how does it work and why is the big difference.

It's not bad for the car, it just sounds bad. The backfire/overrun sound is not naturally happening. It's programed and it's god awful. All these car companies are crazy. You don't hear GT3's farting like that, but yet the Carrera's do. They do really badly. A slight lift off throttle makes the exact same number of pops as a full load release. Insane. The backfire sound in the RS5 is not cool, and sitting still accentuating that is awful, to me. But if people like it, rev away. That said, I like how this 2.9 sounds when the car is actually rolling. I had the 4.2 RS5 with an AWE exhaust that felt like a musical instrument. I felt like I could play songs with the exhaust. This one is obviously very different, but I like the sound.
