    S3 Exhaust on an A3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have the opportunity to get a friend's CTS Turbo Cat-Back Exhaust from his S3.

Has anyone installed a S3 exhaust on an A3? Could a S3 valance be fitted and we're away, or is the underside more different than I thought?

    Thanks guys!

The S3 valance fits the S3/S-line bumper only. If your car is an A3 Sport or SE, non-Sline, the oem S3 valance will not fit.

With almost any other exhaust system you could probably just hack off the twin tips and use a single tip to fit the A3 valence, but CTS uses an odd 1 in 4 out muffler.
You could probably just cut and cap any two of those 4 exit pipes and not see an appreciable loss of flow.

I guess the OP wanted the opposite: to fit the S3 exhaust with 4 tips in order to get this nice looking quad tip exhaust to his A3. If this is true, he needs a S3 rear diffuser.

This is what I'm doing with my car :)

Exactly Motley! Local shop seems to think they can make an S3 varance fit a non S-Line with some tweaks and cuts.
Will definitely post pics when it's done - much cheaper option than buying an S3/S-Line bumper :)

Have you looked into non s-line diffuser / valence options that are not oem? I have to think there is an aftermarket company making those for a 4 tip exhaust? Check exhaust maker websites and see. Also google “4 tip A3” or the like

How did you get the valves on the s3 exhaust to work on your A3?

You can't from my understanding. There's no control for valving on the A3, so you just leave them off, and force them open, or get a resistor and do some magic to keep it open. I'd be curious to know how this was worked out as well.

Noticed you were in Ontario also... if you're ever looking for an S3 exhaust let me know, I have my stock one sitting around.

I've been thinking about it actually. I have 300+ HP and still running stock exhaust for the most part. Can't decide if I want to retrofit an RS3 exhaust, or just slap an S3 exhaust on. OR, just buckle up and purchase a Remus.
I will keep that in mind though. I appreciate that offer!
Just curious.. Where did you get your exhaust installed?

Edit: You know what. just realized. .I'm in Ontario California, not Ontario Canada, haha Sorry!

Stock catback isn’t holding you back at that power level.

Oh LOL... my bad, completely read that as Ontario, Canada. Sounds like you got a nice build going, with a few good options as far as the exhaust is concerned. Good luck with the exhaust mod!
