    Car seat

Have a 17 S6 and looking for a convertible rear facing car seat that fits and still allows for a comfortable ride for the passenger. I already have a forward facing car seat behind the driver seat.

Just bought a Chicco keyfit zip but it doesn’t leave much front leg room for the front passenger seat.

    Thank you in advance.

I had a Graco rear-facing seat in my car for a while and it wasn't too bad. My wife had decent legroom in the front passenger seat with the rear-facing seat behind her. I don't recall the exact model, but it was an infant seat with a head-rest insert.

Just so you know, don't take off too quickly with your little one facing the rear (I know it's common sense). The car is more than quick enough to through their tiny heads forward in the seat.

We are looking at a Clek Fllo or a Nuna Rava. Both are expensive but are fairly compact when rear facing as far as convertible seats go. We have been using an Uppababy Mesa infant seat and base and that has worked just fine although front seat space is at somewhat of a premium. There has to be a gap between the infant seat and the seatback in front of it for maneuvering the seat on and off the base which makes the effective size bigger. Convertibles are installed and should stay there for awhile so you can move that front seat back further which will be nice.

Was considering those two car seats as well. We ruled the clek fllo out bc you can’t remove the cover. It’s frustrating trying to read the reviews...I feel like half the time one review will say it’s compact and leaves ample front seat room and the next will say it’s large and it leaves no room.

Was also looking at this one.

Also considered the Diono Radian RXT but it got horrible crash ratings on two sites we trust.

The Nuna looks nice but it seems like a pain in the ass to install.

5'9". I have the infant seat behind the passenger seat since I have to move the seat up a little to get enough clearance for the infant seat. I could have it behind the driver's seat but it would be slightly uncomfortable. The hope is that the convertible will give more room and can be placed behind the driver seat in case we have number 2 and need to have an infant seat in the car at the same time.

You hit the nail on the head about the inconsistency of the reviews. I wish there was some objectivity involved. I have even seen two different sites that measured the seat front to rear when installed rear facing and there was a 3 inch disparity between the measurements on the Clek. There are no concrete measurements anywhere on the Nuna since it is fairly new, just lots of reviews saying that it is "one of the most compact seats out there." The Clek's fabric not coming off is a bummer but it is treated to resist stains which supposedly works quite well. It and the Nuna seem incredibly safe from my obsessive research on car seats over the last few weeks.

The inconsistency’s in the reviews were the reasons I was hoping to hear first hand accounts on the forum. Maybe even see some pics.

I’ve got the Chicco KeyFit for my 1.5 year old - rear facing on passenger side which only really leaves room for my wife in the passenger front seat. On my side my 4 year old is in a convertible forward facing seat and leaves me plenty of room. Until you can get them forward facing unfortunately your front seat will be limited...haven’t heard of anyone among my friends that have otherwise unless you’re in a bigger car.

We have the Chicco Keyfit 30 rear facing and the Chicco Nextfit Zip forward facing. I'm 6 feet and I actually have the rear facing Keyfit behind me and I'm pretty comfortable. If I really wanted more room I would just move the forward facing Nextfit behind me like snohman. Both car seats are among the top rated on CR and that's why we got them. Keyfit is great and easy to install. Complaints on the Nextfit is that it is really heavy, and hard to buckle in. However, the quality is excellent and crash test ratings are the best. My wife actually manages to squeeze in between the two car seats in the back.

I use a maxi cosi pria 85 in my A4 and it was snug but doable. We also use a Cosco Seneca for when we fly. It’s lighter and more compact.

My brother used the Nuna in his 2014 S4 and it fit very well. Don't forget to get a seat protector to put underneath...They really help save your seats!

I have a Nuna Rava for my SQ5 and S7 both fit rear and front facing with no issues and space left over, and by far the easiest to install.

Please report back. We are probably leaning towards that seat in our RS7.

Thank you. That is good information to know so that if the Clek doesn't fit well at least the Nuna does.

Head rest in the Clek was broken upon arrival, returning it.

Looking at the instructions seemed like a pain in the ass anyways

The Cleck Fllo is what I use for rear facing behind the passenger seat. Shame yours came broken because its a nice option and provides the best space for larger passengers.

Don’t miss mine at all lol...had fun with it but spent a lot more time on the road then in the dirt/mud...had my off-road fun don’t get me wrong but I enjoy the everyday street performance and luxury.

Thought about keeping it but it would literally just sit and not get driven

I as well had a Raptor too before the S7. I honestly don't miss it until I have to use the wife's SUV to pull my trailer or boat because my car can't. From a daily driver prospective I'm much happier in the S7, but then again I've never been a truck guy.

Does anyone use a mirror for a rear face car seat? Discovering it'd be nice to have on in my car, but fixed headrests makes it difficult. I ordered a suction cup mirror to attempt to use on the back window, probably won't work out and should have inquired here first.

This has been a great post to follow - with a kiddo on the way, seeing what others have selected to gain the most legroom is helpful. Wife and I have an Uppababy Mesa car seat and base. Planning to put it in the car ('16 A6) once I get it back from the dealership for the fuel rail recall work. I'm sure passenger front leg room will be diminished, but with the wife being 5'7" (and I always drive lol), I think we should be good!

We are in same situation: Uppababy Mesa, my wife is 5'7", I always drive, etc. We have the passenger seat moved just about all the way forward to make it easier to maneuver the car seat in and out. My wife doesn't have a ton of room but it is doable. I will say that my wife is quite slender. If she were not so small it might be more difficult.

Are we married to the same person?? haha j/k. My wife is also quite slender, so sounds like we will be in the same boat as you - not sure what the legroom difference is in your RS7 vs my A6... but like Remy Ma and Fat Joe said - "All the way up", is what we will have to do. Appreciate the helpful info!

I have a Britax bsafe35 in my 16 A6. It allows for decent legroom for the passenger. My wife is only 5'2 but i occasionally have my nephew who's about 5'9 and he's pretty comfy. If i had to sit therr at 6'1 it might be a bit uncomfortable for a long drive

It should be the same. You will be fine. In fact, you will likely have more room as the front sport seats in my RS7 are huge and take up a lot of room. I believe the standard seats are a fair amount smaller and should hopefully give you some more room. Also, I love the sports seats so much that I have a fair amount of space between it and the car seat to make sure I don't scuff the rear of the front seats putting the baby seat in. If you are not as particular as me you could have it an inch or two closer to the car seat.

To hopefully help someone in the future with the same question, we ended up picking up a Clek Fllo and we couldn't be more happy with it. It fits wonderfully and provides lots of room rear facing for the front seat passengers. This is without the ARB installed. With the ARB installed it would be a different story. Plus, the design of the seat along with the alcantara covering that we got the seat in looks great with the interior. It is quite an expensive seat but its compact dimensions, along with its incredible safety features, made the purchase worthwhile for us.

    Car seat

We have a Chicco Nextfit ZIP air. The thing is huge even in the wife’s larger GLE SUV but fit there much better than my dearly departed S7. The final decider was how much one of us always had to sit in the back seat with the little guy. Pretty much all the time and with both of us being 5’11” it just was that much of a pain that helped me decide to move on to the E wagon. When I put him in and out of the seat I don’t have to duck underneath the roof of the car to have half my body inside to fasten his belts. The A/S/RS 7 car is incredible, it’s simply not the roomiest thing in the back for car seats and full grown adults in our experience.

The A/S/RS 6 is no doubt more practical I. That department.

Here’s the figment of my car seat in the Mercedes. I wouldn’t be able to see my kid’s face if he was strapped in in the Audi.

    Gone but never forgotten:
2017 Glacier White S7, prestige, Audi exclusive interior with chestnut brown leather and alabaster white stitching, Oak Sepia wood inlays, B+O system, blackout package, comfort seats, sports package.
    Full Neidfaktor custom leather interior.

Just installed the Uppababy base today. Fits really well, with plenty of passenger seat legroom - even for me, so the wife is going to be ecstatic.
