    9H ceramic coating... legit?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ive seen a few adds lately for quick application ceramic coats but it almost seems too good to be true.

The instructions have you wash and polish the car before application. Im questioning whether Im protecting my car with a good wash/polish, or if the quick-ceramic-fairydust is worth it? Could it be another Armorall equivalent that looks nice at first but is really just looks like $#!+?

    Thank you!

    -Pete

It depends on the brand you're getting.
9H represents the scale of hardness after cure. There are 4H, 7H 9H, 10H etc... 9H being the most popular because of its durability.
10H tends to more expensive and usually will be sold by a approved distributor or installer representing the product.
Ceramic Coating is the way to go. Just stay away from the cheap ones made in china sold in amazon for like $4-15 bucks.

The cheaper spray on ones like Mothers CMX and Megs Hybrid Ceramic are really just SIO2 Sealants.

I've used them both and they are not equivalent to real ceramic coatings.

All great info here. Check out Pans YouTube videos, a tonne of information there regarding application and duribulity of all the coatings and quick spray applications.

If your thinking of doing a coating and willing to invest, definitely look at a 9H or 10H, if done right and cared for properly will last the life of the car with a single application. I personally have a 9H SH (self healing) coating and love it. Opted for the SH factor over the 10H as costings aren't bulletproof and will eventually scratch as well.

Otherwise 6mo applications like Gyeon Wetcoat or Carpro Hydro2lite are great spray on rinse off coatings that are quite cost effective.
