    A6/A7 Competition Package Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

Wondering if you can help me. I've been looking for an A7 for some time and I've noticed that in MY 2017, there is a Competition package that is offered for A6/A7. This additional model is listed in the MY 2017 brochure (see page 140).

I don't see the Competition package offered in the MY 2018 brochure or the MY 2019 brochure. However, I've noticed that there are some A7 Premium Plus Audi's that list the Competition package on AutoTrader but I was under the impression that the Competition package is only available after the Prestige package? (In other words, the Competition package extends the Prestige package.)
2018 Premium Plus with Competition package (look in Additional Vehicle Details)
2018 Premium Plus with Competition package (look in Additional Vehicle Details)

I've also tried the Audiusa.com builder for the MY 2019 A7 and do not see a Competition package offered.

The Competition package extends the Prestige package for A6 and A7 models by adding the following. (I think it also includes other packages that are not listed below, i.e. Cold weather package):
    - Increase in horsepower by 7 compared to Prestige/Premium Plus models
    - All-wheel drive with sport differential
    - Red brake calipers
    - A7 3.0T competition S line® exterior appearance
    - Leather-wrapped door armrests
    - Twelve-way power front sport-contoured seats, including four-way power lumbar adjustment

Can anyone help with my confusion? Was the Competition package only offered in 2017? I ask because if someone is advertising a Competition package for a 2018/2019, I don't want to get ripped off. I'm not necessarily looking for an A7 with the Competition package, I just want to know if a dealer is listing the car incorrectly. Of course, I could check the Monroney label (sticker) to be sure.

    Thanks.

AFAIK, in Canada, 2017 C7.5 models had a "Competition Trim". So think A6/7, Competition 6/7 and S6/7. This trim had all you mention above plus the sport diff. This would explain the premium plus competitions and the like.

For 2018, they got rid of the trim and added a "Competition Package" that could be added as an extension to the Technik (in Canada and Prestige in US) package for A6/7 trims. All engines were now the upgraded 340hp 3.0T. Only difference was the missing sport diff.

Not sure how this all translates to the specifics of the packages contents for US vs Canada but, the bones of the story should be identical.

Also note; MY 2018 could have deleted this package because the features were added as standard. For example, I built an A6 in November of 2018 on Audi Canada's site and the Driver Assistant Package was not available. It was listed as a standard set of features.

So, if we are talking about a 2017 i would bet it was the Competition Trim so you could have a lower spec'ed car. If 2018 then the competition package and only with the prestige package.

As for 2019 we would be dealing with the new C8 models, i don't believe there is a competition package or trim yet. I'd wager something similar will be introduced later in the C8's life.

    Hope this helps.

I purchased a 2018 A7 with the Competition Package and I love mine. I have had it about 10 weeks now and I am in absolute love with this car. The red stitched seats, red brake calipers, and the Mythos Black paint make for a very special combination. I swapped out all of the original badges and emblems for new black ones making it a little more special and unique.

My car is Premium Plus, and I wish it was Prestige (my Q7 has the Prestige package and I miss some of those features.) I did get the Driver Assistance Package.

I was concerned that the seats might not be comfortable, but they are and that's not been an issue at all.

The best part of my deal was that I was able to get $15K off the dealer sticker.

When models get "long in the tooth" like the C7, (2011- 2018), manufactures will add a lil spice with new trims to try and maintain some sales volumes of older platforms. You may never see an competition trim in the C8. It's all about marketing.

That proves the competition package exists for MY 2018. It is weird that I don't see the package offered in the A7/S7/RS7 brochure I shared. Glad you love your car, sounds like a nice ride! Thanks.

For MY 2018 the Competition package was available for both Premium Plus and Prestige trims.

    Thank you for the info.

That is reassuring that the package actually exists - I don't trust most car dealers about providing the correct Audi packages.

I have MY A6 with premium plus AND competition package. I believe that comprises paint, 20” wheels, blacked out trim, stitching on seats, and caliper paint. I also have sport differential, which feels great when really pushing the car (rarely) but that may have been a separate item....

Good luck!! The MY 18s present great opportunities for a deal.

Yes, my 2018 A7 with Comp Package also had the Sport Differential.

By the way - what exactly is the Sport Differential?

Torque Vectoring for the rear wheels in which, the outside wheel will get most of the torque to "push" the car through a turn.

Looking to trade my A5 for an A7. I am very interested in the sport differential. My understanding is that it was always included in the 2017 Competition Prestige Trim. In 2018 there was no 'Trim" but rather a "Competition Package." My question is: Did the 2018 Competition Package include the Sport Differential?

Not "push" it's understeering cars the "push" through corners. Rather, the sport diff/torque vectoring helps to "rotate" the rear end in cornering.

Yes 2017 Competition was a seperate model all together, fully loaded over and above the prestige package. In 2018 they made it a package that you can order just like anything else with P+ trim etc.
My only gripe with the 2018 competition package is that it ONLY comes with the aluminum inlays, where in 2017 you had choices.

Someone know if it's possible that a 2018 A7 with competition package comes with white stiching and not red ?

I thought it was red default but I've seen some that are not red stitch.
