Has anyone in the NJ area used Jack Daniel's Audi in Paramus for APR tune? If so, when the dealer does APR Stage 2 for example, will I still lose my warranty?

That dealer is listed on Apr.com as and apr dealer

If they hook your car up to the mother ship with the APR tune, you will be TD1. Probably will be TD1 even if they flash you back to true factory stock because of flash count and spec to actual check. Most Audi dealers that are APR dealers find ways to not hook your car up to the mother ship. Make sure you discuss it with Jack Daniel's Audi before you commit. I did this in another state and they have been great.

Have all warranty work done before they flash your car.

Hopefully dealer knows ways around when I actually need warranty work as I only have 2k miles right now. I'm assuming if the Audi dealer installs downpipes and tunes APR I should be good. I just dont want to have issues down the road where they are like "we do apr but you are still td1"

If you have a drivetrain issue and have downpipes and a tune then you will be TD1 no matter who installed them. Pay to play.

That's what i think also, but why would an Audi dealer modify a car that would cause it to be TD1? I'm guessing if they do the modifications they turn a blind eye when its warranty time and just fix the car? I have to call and talk with the service manager there to get full details

They do it for the money.

If there is a major drivetrain issue, they will have to connect to the mother ship. Audi will make you TD1. Audi will not pay for your drivetrain repair. The dealer won't pay for your drivetrain repair because Audi won't pay them for your drivetrain repair. You will pay for your drivetrain repair. Like I said, pay to play.

You can buy APR plus - you pay a lot more but APR will cover drivetrain repairs not covered by Audi.

That sounds like a very good idea. So basically if I am TD1, Audi just wont cover powertrain but cover everything else?

Yes. Some dealers are difficult and try to make you think that your whole warranty is gone.

Anything modified runs risk of no warranty - suspension (springs, coil overs) etc

APR plus is almost twice as expensive as no warranty tune.

Apr plus may just be worth it. I've had the car about 3 months now and its starting to "feel" slow

I don’t know what car you have but:

    S7 APR stage 1 $1499.99
    S7 APR plus. $2499.99

    RS7 APR stage 1 $2999.99
    RS7 APR plus. $4499.99

I’d be tempted to bank the $1000 or $1500 and if you have a drivetrain repair then pay for it. If you don’t, then you still have the $1000 or $1500. A roll of the dice for sure. If you need an expensive repair then it is worth it. If you don’t, then you wasted $$.

The APR plus is strictly a stage 1 (91 octane file) tune, they don't have the "plus" option for stage 2 with downpipes. While a true flash tune is going to likely yield the best performance gains, you may want to look into the piggyback route. BMS is working on a JB4 setup and should have it out soon, VR tuning and Racechip are a couple of other proven options. I ran a Chipwerke piggyback on my 2013 S4 for the better part of 4 years with zero issues, it took 1/2 second off my 1/4 ET and added 4+mph of trap speed. I just purchased a used Racechip from another forum member (who sold his car) for my new S6. I've only got 600 miles on my car so I have been really easy but rolling into the gas with the tuner on the factory default setting makes the car pull way harder, especially in the higher rpm where it seemed to flatten out. I plan to purchase the JB4 once it's released....... was really planning to go with Unitronic or EPL for flash from home options but after reading the PODS warranty thread where a number of people got TD1'd after flashing back to stock scared me away from that idea. This is one of my DD cars and I'm not interested in blowing my warranty....... I have my Z06 for that.

I have a '18 S6. Things can get very expensive with this car with no warranty

Jb4 sounds like a good idea to save warranty but how does it compare to APR Stage 2 with DPs? Initially the car felt pretty quick but now not so much. If I cant figure a way to go Stage 2 through this Audi dealer and keep my warranty I may try the JB4 if it's not detectable.

My other option is leave the S6 alone and pick up a R1 to use from like April till October ish

This is incorrect - the warranty is third-party not APR.

The JB4 is going to be more in line of a stage 1 setup but they will have a number of maps for different octane ratings and ethanol mixes. Here is a thread from n54tech with some pretty impressive early results. There are a couple threads in the B9 S4 forum (The B9 ECU has not been cracked yet so no flash tune options are available). There are a number of owners that have knocked ~1 second off the stock 1/4 mile time and have picked up 7-9mph of trap speed with the JB4.

Knocking a second off with a piggback sounds really good. I may have to try that out whenever it is available.

Well that sucks. Then you have your repair shop, APR and a third party warranty company involved. Seems too easy to potentially get screwed.

I spoke with Jack Daniels, and to my knowledge, they are no longer doing APR. The guy who was in charge is not there anymore is what I heard from them.

The phone number on the warranty contract is for APR.
