    custom exhaust using 2 magnaflow mufflers?

    i see a lot of people are using magnaflow 11385/11386 in place of either baby resonators or the center but i havent been able to find a video/thread using magnaflow to replace both. I was thinking of just making a whole new exhaust using 2.5" pipes, using (2) magnaflow 11386 in place of baby and center resonators and possibly some aftermarket mufflers or even doing a muffler delete? I do have gutted cats and the exhaust does sound raspy so what i want to end up with is something thats not too loud, has a deep tone to it and most of all no rasp.Depending on what i do with the mufflers, all this would cost me under $600. Any opinions or tips? Im open to other suggestions as well

    I have the baby res replaced with 11385 and straight-pipe mid resonator. Someday I will probably end up swapping in Magnaflows for the rear mufflers.

    Great idea to do a custom 2.5" exhaust. There are many people that have done 2 x pipes like that but usually doing both resonated such as 11386 cuts the sound too much. Also people have reported blowing out the material inside by installing it to far forward so they put a non res in the downpipes and the 11386 in the middle.

    i have seen people post about their resonators blowing out the material up front thats why im still debating what i should do exactly. i wouldnt mind doing non resonated up front/magnaflow center but i would need some sort of mufflers for that deep tone.

    what did the rest of your exhaust consist of? Does this happen because 2 resonators are used at the same time or does that not matter?

    test pipes to MF 11385 to AWE touring
    i think it happened because of the test pipes, and its probably running a little rich too

    how long did the magnaflow last you? Also how is the sound once the insides blow?

    That sucks. I was going to do gutted cats-magnaflow 11386-remove mid resonator-borla mufflers. Just dont want ti keep replacing the front resonator if thats going to be an issue

    Tune maybe? GIAC tends to run rich I think
    I called magnaflow about it and they said that the fibers may have got “wet” and burned off

    I've been running a Magnaflow 11385 that replaced the baby res since Oct 2018 with no issues. Picture below is my setup.

    Anyone file a warranty claim with Magnaflow if they had a blow out? Kind of seems like a bad batch or something.

    I have decided to replace the baby resonators with magnaflow 11386 and borla mufflers paired with 3.5 burnt tips all connected with new 2.5" pipes. Will take some sound videos once i get everything together.

    What are you doing with the center? Straight pipe, x pipe or resonator? I have a full borla exhaust with the magnaflow 11386 in the downpipes. It's a good set up

    I plan on just doing straight pipe for the center resonator. By full borla do you mean putting the exhaust together like i am or did you buy the already fully assembled one straight from borla?

    Yeah I have the full Borla system and then added the magnaflow. Without the center it will be loud but should sound pretty good. Then again you have gutted cats which tend to be quiter then test pipes

    MyS4.org Is your magnaflow 11385 still holding up? Considering same setup but trying to see how universal blown magnaflow issue is?

    I was all about the MF 11385 option till I read all these people having issues with them. Made me think I should skip it, save a bit and get a Polo Performance exhaust instead and do it right the first time.

    I've used this other brand, some call it a knock off. It's called a "Flowmonster".

    I think it's a Flowmaster brand copy of the magnaflow. The part number is 11386-FM.

    It's a resonated xpipe just like the magnaflow. I can't compare the two because I never had the magnaflow but the flowmonster is cheap and it hasn't blown yet for me. I replaced the center suitcase with this.

    It's only been on the audi for 4-5 weeks but it was used when I installed it.

    Dubgli could you possibly post a sound clip?

    MyS4.org very interesting.. some have said richness of tune may affect this. Magnaflow claims packing material getting “wet” could cause this. Borla Pro XS holds up better but I prefer the sound of the Magnaflow.

    Considering baby res delete w/ Magnaflow 11385 > center res delete w/ non res x pipe > muffler delete. 6MT and don’t mind a little drone. Sounds good IMO what do you guys think? https://youtu.be/nIlBs3fUqGA

    Sound good. I think adding the center x pipe and deleting that the rear Mufflers sounds pretty good it's just louder than my setup
