MK II SQ5 introduction

Thought I’d drop my hello into the Q5 forum. Sold my RS5 yesterday so I’m officially sans Audi and my MK7 GTI will have to suffice until April delivery of my SQ. Sad day really but it was a dust collector in my garage.

Can’t wait to follow everyone’s builds and steal the best ideas. MOPS, I’ll be hitting you up for wheels in the future.

Welcome to the best section on AZ! And congrats on the incoming SQ. Can't be mad about the MK7 for a daily. I miss ours pretty much weekly lol. Even more so than our S3.

Nice ride, and welcome to the Q forum. Food for thought, maybe set aside some mod pennies for ceramic coating if you aren't aren't already planning on doing one. Quantum looks incredible, but after a couple months with ours I can already tell is going to be finicky to maintain.

I’ve been researching that. I WILL be definitely doing PPF over the entire front end. We don’t get a lot of rain in AZ and I hand wash my cars but I’m starting to get quotes for ceramic coating

That’s one benefit of living in Ohio😅 I have not even seen one SQ5 in 2018-2019 not to mention B9 or midnight blue 🤣

I ordered from Audi Peoria. ANS played games with me until I said no thanks and Audi Gilbert wouldn’t return my call. I got a deal I couldn’t refuse.

Those two are close but I believe they didn’t have dynamic steering which seems to be a rare feature.

You're right, I overlooked that your build has dynamic steering. I'd love to see how that performs! I'm relatively new to AZ, are you involved in any of the events or cars and coffee's? Audi Club of NA has an AZ chapter I've been trying to meet up with but my travel schedule keeps getting in the way.

Ha, yes black leather is definitely hot on the backside here in AZ. Get a good insulated, reflective sunshade and tinted windows.

I didn't see summer tires on your build, are you getting the A/S on the 21s? If so and you would rather have the performance summer tires I would be open to a trade.

Strangely enough - I bought my SQ5 from Stefano @ Audi North Scottsdale - even though we lived in Boulder (with no intent to move to AZ).

What's the logic on the trade for all seasons? You go up to the mountains a lot?

I did opt for the summer tires with 21s. According to my dealer, only summer tires are available on the 21” wheels.

I’m planning on shelving the 21s within a few months after and picking up some wheels from MOPS. I figured they might be more appealing when it’s time to sell, but who knows really.

What's the logic on the trade for all seasons? You go up to the mountains a lot?

Yeah I go to Flagstaff at least once a month and also take my car camping and off road a bit so I think A/S would suit my needs better. It would also help someone out who would want the summer tires as a free upgrade.

Now I'm questioning if you can get the 21's with A/S but I would imagine you can because they wouldn't sell many elsewhere in the winter if they all had summer tires. All of the allocations I saw for this region had the summer tires as an option already.

I’ve never seen an A/S option for the OEM 21s. Good luck man!

For those of us up here in winter - the options I’m aware of are to go with 21s and get dedicated winters (which I did) or get the 20s and all seasons.

Bring the kids. My 6 and 3 year olds love this stuff.. the 6 year old talked me into buying the SQ5 when i brought the booster seat along with us for the test drive.... Daddy.. "I think you should get this car".. "I like the seats and it has the 4 rings like your car has.." how could i disappoint him.. start em young!!!

This. My boys are 6 and 8 and have been going to C&C since they were babies.. I get that sports and stuff gets in the way sometimes - but I'm a proponent of healthy mix. My fam loves C&C.

It’s purely sports and activities that prevent my involvement. My 13 year old has zero interest in cars. There is hope for my 10 year old though. Hoping to be more involved in the future.

Nice SQ! I've got the same configuration without the dynamic steering, I've never loved an Audi that I've picked up 100% stock, as it sits, as much as I love this one, enjoy yours!

Funny you say that about AZ though, I grew up in Phx, born and raised, bought my 3 previous Audi's from Audi NS...and it wasn't even a question on whether or not you did a full front clip paint protection with something like Suntek Ultra when I was there, or you'd have chips in the front bumper pretty much after your first drive on any freeway. I thought that was universal, but living in Seattle and the PNW, it wasn't a problem on my truck and hasn't been on the SQ so far, and nobody up here gets it done on their vehicles - those damned desert pebbles get ya every time!

I agree completely! This is my 3rd special order and I’m totally smitten. Great car that I can haul the family in too.

I’m planning on the CETE air module, wheels/tires in the near term (hear that Mops?),and probably wait for the AWE airgate. Hoping tuning options aren’t too far out but I’m enjoying it as it sits sight now anyway.

My wife actually wants to drive this one. She flat out refused to drive my RS5 unless she was the DD.
