    Unrelated question. Differential diagnosis needed

Hello gents, long time b6er here. However I do have a favor to ask. The TT forum here is dead......
1.8T gurus please help. Background story: 2000 audi TT 180. I had this smoking issue. Smokes randomly at idle and start up. Replaced so far: low mileage KO3s turbo. Rebuild head. New gaskets. Cylinder wall looks decent no ridge on top. Compression 180 across the board no leak down test yet because I don't have a tester.. It puffs on start up still but clears when driving. Then I noticed whenever I idle on an incline or slope the car will smoke perfusely. So I took these videos. Car wasn't smoking prior to backing up on ramps. As soon as the back end is elevated starts smoking within 10 seconds. Stops smoking within 10 seconds when back on level ground. Please advise.

I've seen a fuel injector stuck open on a different car (solution was replacement) that caused (white?) smoke and strong fuel smell, but I don't think it depended on the rear height level of the car, and I haven't seen it happen on an Audi before

re: TT forum, idk if other forums would be of help as well, such as VWvortex. I'm not sure if they have a dedicated TT section (might have less activity) versus MKIV section (might be similar to Mk1 TT regarding drivetrain such as engine)

Yeah it definitely isn't a stuck injector. It's blue smoke reeks of oil burn. Just wanted some input since I already replaced the turbo and head. I don't like the vortex they are immature pricks there figure someone here has worked on a transverse 1.8ts or 2

Have you inspected the fuel filter?

It’s a long shot but I’ve seen some reports of them causing smoke if clogged, etc.

And I agree with you on the slow TT forum — I’m restoring a Mk1 roadster.

Yes friend. Brand new Mann filter. I am thinking it's sludge or bad rings. Clogged drain passage somewhere. Any more ideas toss them out.

My initial thought is a crankcase vent system problem. I have a B7 2.0 that did something very similar when there were problems with the crankcase vent.

I run a catch can and hooked up per OGs instructions. P.O. ripped the factory pcv out.
Failed or stuck oil control ring? And whenever is tilted the oil in the crankcase getting sucked up?

Had a similar problem on a 1.8t Passat, it was the oil cooler that was beginning to fail.

Try this. Disconnect the catch can. Plug the connection to the TIP . Let your block breather hoses run as an open dump to atmosphere and see if it changes anything.

I forgot to mention. No coolant or oil loss visually. I have driven 1000 miles since I replaced the head and oil level is the same. No milk shake. Sludge on oil cap. Oil is clean so is coolant. If it was an oil cooler wouldn't it be intermixing the two. Also smoke is angle dependent that is the part has me stomped.

Any chance that the burning oil is old accumulation from before the rebuild, in the muffler? I've never heard of that happening, but if you are burning oil, but never depleting any from the crankcase, then it has to be stored somewhere.

Yes it is possible. But when the smoke is angle dependent that just drives me nuts. You would think after 1k miles that stuff is burnt off. I have definitely gave it a workout. I was thinking maybe my used k03 was bad even though there'd hardly any shaft play. Perhaps the oil is not drawing correctly from the turbo and when the motor is tilted it exacerbates the condition? It never smokes on boost.
