Is Keyless Entry always packaged with Keyless Start?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought a used 2018 Audi A5 Sportback that has Keyless push button Start which works perfectly with the Advanced key.
However, Keyless entry is not working as I need to use the advanced key button to unlock the doors. I wasn't aware that these options were offered separately? Is there an easy way to check if the Keyless Entry mechanism was installed in the door handles? I need to know if it is not installed or malfunctioning. If not installed, is it an easy aftermarket addition as I hate reaching for the key in my computer bag or pocket?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Chris

Sorry, I could have asked my question more clearly.

With the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback Premium is Keyless Start available without Keyless Entry? I have push-button start, but not keyless entry.

    Regards,

Based on the 2018 A5 Sportback order sheet for the US, Premium does not come standard with Audi Advance Key which provides keyless engine start/stop & entry - door and trunk. To get that option you have to add the optional Convenience Package which also included:

    • 8-way power front seats w/ driver memory
    • Alarm system with motion sensors
    • Heated, auto-dimming, power exterior mirrors w/ memory
    • SIRIUS satellite radius (with complimentary 90 subscription)

Being that you have keyless start/stop in theory you should also have keyless entry. Does your driver side door handle have a little indention that looks like a button on it?

That is where the confusion comes in. I have Keyless Start/Stop, but I don't have any of the others:

8-way power front seats w/ driver memory
    Alarm system with motion sensors
Heated, auto-dimming, power exterior mirrors w/ memory
SIRIUS satellite radius (with complimentary 90 subscription)

However, the handles do have the indentation button.

    Thank you for your thoughts.

Strange indeed. Do you have the window sticker still?

If not you can try pulling it up using your VIN on this site:

    Interesting . . .
I couldn't get that link to work, however, I did run the VIN through Audi Recall Services just to check on recalls or service campaigns.
    There were non listed.
However, the car is listed as: "2018 MOBILITY - A5 Sportback 2.0T quattro S Tronic"

Any thoughts what the "MOBILITY" refers to?

    Thank you.

Yeah, that window sticker lookup system is very hit or miss. I think the DB that the site queries has a daily limit or something.

Any ways, I'm not 100% sure what "MOBILITY" refers to. The top 2 things returned in a Google search for "Audi MOBILITY" is for 1) a rebate program to install handicap assistance devices in Audis or 2) in relation to the Audi on Demand program.

I also bought a used "Audi Mobility Vehicle". These are vehicles purchased by the dealer for demo, loaner and what I call "Perk" cars. My car had been driven by the dealers assistant sales manager prior to my purchase.

My window decal shows it as "Audi Mobility Vehicle " "Not for Resale ". I asked about the "not for resale" and was told that legally they cannot sell the car right away. They have to keep in their fleet for a period of time. The finance guy didn't say exactly how long. In my case the car was in-service for 5 months and had about 6800 miles on it.

Very interesting. Thank you for the clarification, I appreciate the info.
Mine has 4600 miles on it. There is no reason a "MOBILITY" vehicle would not still carry a full warranty, correct?

    Cheers.

Yes, you have full warranty. There's absolutely no difference between the Mobility and "regular " vehicles. Only difference was the original purpose of aquisision by the dealer i.e., retail sales or loaner demo.

To answer your original question. All Audi's, regardless of trim level and packages have the keyless engine start / stop button. The convenience package gets you the Audi Advance Key, which gives you the ability to unlock / lock via door handle. Additionally what's a bit confusing is the owners manual in which the Advanced Key is referred to as the Convenience Key.

Anyway the unlock from door handle can be disabled. To verify if you do or don't have Advanced Key do the following:

In the MMI go to menu / vehicle settings / central locking. See if you have an option titled "Open with Convenience Key". If you see this option then you DO have Advanced Key. If you do, ensure the box is checked. This will enable unlocking from the door handles.

    Hope this helps.
