Best turbo upgrade for 400 WHP and good spool plug and play?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I currently have a stage 2 S3, what is the best turbo kit for a daily 400whp?

Something that is reliable and dosent require fuel system.

Currently eurodyne stage 2 TCU/ECU and UM Haldex.

Hopefully was able to stay with eurodyne didn’t want to have to buy all new software but if I have to I will. Currently have a tuner that can road tune with Maestro.

Not spending that kinda of money in my opinion it is not distinctively different same exterior, identical interior and to me for the money looking for RS wide rendered body kit aggressively obnoxious old RS4 look!

Price difference is about 35k between trade in value on a used S3 and new RS3. If you can go stage 3 for 5k that is not a bad deal.

There were some options for a modified is38 turbo for more power. That may be another possibility.

Probably a CTS500 turbot for $3200, sometimes they have it for $3000 on sale. I was APR Stage 2 on my S3 and I was very satisfied, the midrange torque was an avalanche.

Not worth it financially. I made the change myself but knowingly that it is not financially a good move. You are at least jumping into a $30000k difference when going from a used
S3 to a new RS3. Either you buy the RS3 straight up either used or new and skip the S3 or invest $5000 on a turbokit and call it a day. You can also invest more and get a top notch turbokit from Iroz.

I have the IHX475, Dragy’d an 11.3 on stock fuel. Ordering a fuel system this week. Want to eventually get an IMS kit, though DBV2 is a really good turbo.

Stick to eurodyne and get maestro to custom tune. I got the EQT turbo which is very affordable at 2k and makes easy 430 whp on 93 pump but can do almost 500 at full e85. Its spools maybe 300 rpm later than an is38. I would maybe avoid a boss500 for what your looking for because its definitely laggier than something like the EQT or IHX475 and the housings have been notorious for cracking with CTS kits.

What entails a full stage 2 kit bolt on and tune wise? Just picked up an s3 and want to do some type of tune. Do you think it was in the 11’s with the stage 2?

Not really wanting to do a turbo upgrade long term not sure about the engine taking that. I’m sort of just leaning doing a high torque stage 1.

I'm stage 2, and best I could do on 93 (today) was a 12.1 @112 Intake, downpipe, res delete, tune, ecu tune. Trans got hot tho. If you want to drag, feels to me like the trans will be the limiting factor. Intercooler probably needed too. Was only 50 today, so don't think that hurt times much though.

The RS3 shares the same interior but under the hood and the transmission it’s all different. That DQ250 tranny will have a hard time with the power so will the haldex. Save the time and money and get a RS3, a stage 2 RS3 will handle your bigger turbo S3 everyday.

With APR stage 1 I ran 12.5@110 on 91OCT and at 3100ft elevation, with Stage 2(adding a catted downpipes) I ran a 12.2@113-114mph again on 91oct and at 3100ft elevation. both runs with a splash of ethanol. high 11's very possible at sea level. the car with either stage 1 or 2 is plenty fast

Not that I’d suggest this turbo, I’d get a DBV2 over this one. To be fair, stock fuel system was stretched out that run with VP MS109 (105 octane) running 26psi. Buying MPI and a LPFP this week and will convert to E85 and around 31psi.

If you're stage 2, literally all you need is the DBV2 that costs less than $3k and is direct bolt on. Just have it tuned through Moose or Mabotech with Maestro. DBV2 made about 400whp/400tq WITHOUT ANY fueling. This is awesome. Quite a few DBV2 S3s and A3s running 10 second quarter mile with high trap speeds. The DBV2 is still working on the triple ball bearing which will be the same price.

DBV2 sounds like the perfect solution for stage 2 owners because it's literally a bolt on and you don't need to get a custom downpipe. Power seems to come on smooth and early like a stock turbo, but it has top end and keeps pulling.

If you decide to add fueling, easily over 500whp....EASILY

Sounds like DBV2 is a great option. What happens when you use it with stock tune? Just runs less boost? I still have 3yrs and 75k left on my Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. I really like the idea of not having to change anything else other than turbo and software. Works with rest of stock parts.

Looks to me like a kit for an IS38 internals upgrade. Their site offers an option for the kit with or without a doner turbo.

I’ve had a really good exp with “moose”. Tuned me on both 93 and MS109. Will be tuning me on full e85 once my fuel system comes in and I get a base line 1/4 on race gas to compare to.

Exactly, it's a perfect option for someone like me who has stage 2 with supporting mods. I don't want to have to get a custom downpipe like I would have to for the turbo upgrade that APR uses. There is a guy who ran a DBV2 turbo (not sure if V1 or V2), but I think he ran 10 sec 1/4 mile with Unitronic stacked with JB4. Personally I'll have mine tuned with Maestro since I already have eurodyne.
