On paper, it looks good. But i am concerned about the warranty. It only has 3 months factory left and is not CPO. I asked the dealer and they said they have 3rd party warranties, but i still would like to have an Audi warranty.

Any thoughts on this? I've heard people bringing cars to Audi to get it CPO'ed. Is there any way to buy an audi extended with this car?

Also I'll be going from a B9 A5 sportback so would like to hear opinions there. Yes , I'll lose alot of tech and the new interior design but that 4.2 V8 has me in love. And while the A5 is a great car, can't fault it in any area but it just lacks the spirit of a naturally aspirational engine!

Get the VIN and go to your local Audi Dealer. Tell them the above and see your pricing. Also you can try Troy Dietrich via email at [email protected].

Fidelity was the Audi Pure Protection underwriter. I'd definitely go Fidelity via Troy vs Audi CPO/Ext warranty, because the Audi warranty will at best add 2-3 total to your warranty, as it is based on the in service date.

The Fidelity warranty takes effect from the date you purchase it and would add anywhere between 3-7 years (depending on your plan). I purchased my Fidelity warranty right before my Audi warranty expired and it is good until 6/2025.

PS: Go take a look at the Audi Customer experience sub forum .. Audi CPO isn't worth the paper it's printed on... don't waste your money.

Actually Zurich is the new underwriter. Fidelity is out.

will that affect current rs5s that have the fidelity warranty? Or would it still run to its end date?

Doesn't change a thing. Just a different provider now. I like Fideity so I went with them directly for my warranty.

The Audi platinum warranty that I have is underwritten by Fidelity. I have had absolutely no issues with it. Last I checked, $35K was charged against it on our Q7, the bulk of which was to have its engine replaced at $85k miles. I would not buy an Audi without the extended warranty if you are planning on keeping it for a while after the original mfg warranty has expired.

    Good luck

I did extensive research on buying an Audi with remaining factory warranty and getting it CPO'd through an Audi dealer. Essentially, no Audi dealer would do it. Now that they've changed the CPO terms (+1 year to original warranty, unlimited miles) I doubt you'll have better luck. Instead, take it to an Audi dealer and pay them $300 for them to do a CPO inspection. They will tell you if it will pass or fail and the reasons why.

I looked into buying an extended warranty on my S5 through Audi. It was about $3800 for +2 years/+24K miles. I didn't think it was worth it. I'd rather put that money in an online savings account and earn interest on it, paying for any item that comes out of pocket. Remember, just like any good insurance company, they will try to deny coverage on any item that comes up. Repairing an Audi is expensive, but getting raked over the coals when buying an extended warranty is worse.

Just take advantage of the existing three months of warranty to make sure everything on the car is in proper working condition and then live dangerously without a warranty. That's what I'd do. Warranties are great for the underwriters and only great for the end customer when you actually need the warranty, but most people don't ever get their money back out of a warranty. If they did, then warranties would be a losing proposition for the companies underwriting them and we all know that's not the case.

Personally, I choose to NEVER buy any extended warranty on anything I own. And I really mean no extended warranties at all. It's amazing how you can go to Home Depot and buy a $50 item that they will try to sell you a warranty on. Anyway, the idea is that the amount of money that I save by not paying for extended warranties will more than offset any out-of-pocket costs that may arise if I need to pay for repair on anything I own. Quite honestly, I'm well ahead of the game at this point and the scales tilt more in my favor every single year. To me, extended warranties are a waste of money and I'd rather be "self insured" whenever possible.

I'm with Rock, especially if you have any mechanical abilities and a place to work on the car. The RS5 is, for the most part, a pretty reliable vehicle. Super low miles on that example. I'd go for it!

I bought a 2015 RS5 from the Jaguar dealership where I live, most dealers give you at least a 90 day warranty from them.

Mine had 1 year warranty left on it, and I still have about 3 months (expires in the spring). Other than the usual A5/S5/RS5 issues (sunroof, carbon buildup, water pump) it's been more reliable at the same mileage my S5 was at. I won't bother with the extended this time since the only time I used it on my S5 was for a water pump.
