    Hello all,

I tried so many websites and posts but with no actual help. Maybe someone here had similar problem or can help to solve my issue.
I have A6 Avant S-line 4G C7 150kw quattro 2014. i love it but one issue is really killing me. It was okay like 6 months ago but started to pop out that my acc and braking guard is unavailable and as it appeared it went away in 1 2 or 3 days by itself...situation became critical when i have it like 28 days from 30 :( i noticed that it mostly happens when driver doors are opened while engine is running. then i wont dissapear for 1-4 weeks...i bought obdeleven to determine issue and of course to code few things. i am not sure how to post full log but i have no issues anywhere except 2:

i understand that it might be switch in doors but i would like to be sure for 100% before going to dealer since it is ultra expensive and my situation is quite bad at the moment...i definitely do not want to go there and get half car changed because they sometimes have no idea, while ill be paying for everything and my problem wont be solved....

    does anyone have an idea?
    any help is much appreciated.

It can be because of a number of reasons. Really need to get a reading from VCDS to see exactly what is causing it.

When this happened to me, it was simply because one of the sensors in the front bumper came loose. Snapped it back in and all was well.

Based on what your VCDS is indicating it does look like a door switch may be bad. I had this condition happen a few times early in my ownership of my A6 but was able to correct it by shutting the engine off and restarting. Eventually I had your warning and I could not get rid of it. In my case, based on VCDS, I had a failed radar sensor passenger side. That is expensive to replace, so if your issue is a door switch failure count your blessings.

Here is my full log, i noticed few new errors which did not appear before regarding positioning, i also visually checked front acc sensors and tried to move them but they are in correct position, maybe error was because i was very close to object in front of car. anyway all sensors in front were clear from dirt without any damage windshield sensors are clear and without damage too.

I had this happen and for a couple of years no dealer or shop could diagnose it until last year. Previous attempts included several sensor/camera recalibrations, sensor cleanings, reboots, software updates, code clearings, but no luck. Finally got it solved after learning the previous owner of my car had replaced the windshield with non-OEM glass and it was causing an error in the forward-facing camera. After expressing a great deal of skepticism, I gave in and had the otherwise-perfectly-good windshield replaced with OEM glass with another sensor/camera recalibration, and like magic it has worked perfectly ever since (with the exception of when a sensor is obscured by mud or snow). This problem nearly drove me crazy because it was not a solution that could be directly indicated by an error code and as I tried and tried to get it diagnosed, most of the people I took it to finally just gave up.

Everyone is right here in that the ACC system can be affected by several other system errors, so it truly could be a number of things, but it is worth it to check out the windshield. Good luck—

Start with having the codes read. Should point you in the right direction. For me, it was the video cable between the windshield camera and image processor module that had to be replaced.

Good luck—
Thank you very much for your response, this will be my second shot, first one is door switch. hopefully i wont be without luck like you.

You mean some specific code readings? i have only obdeleven. i know vcds is better for in depth readings but i wanted something more portable, fast and easy to use, just plug in use my phone and done. Can you please give me some advice how you ment those readings?

Sorry, that was more of a general statement for others that come along. ACC & Audi Brake becoming unavailable can be for multiple reasons. And I missed your codes early in the thread. That's the second time I've heard of the door contact switch causing that. Weird that Audi would add that as a dependency for ACC and brake guard.

Having the same code 154624 Door Contact Switch. Using Ross tech. Ran Output test on every door without any faults or irregularities. When ACC - Brake guard 1st begin to not function I turned the rear drivers side door child latch a few times and then restaredt car.... problem solved. Several months later and now my trick doesn't work. Even went so far as to buy a used door latch and installed it but no luck. Anyone have suggestions as to how to trace which Door Contact Switch is failing?

Came here to post this. I've had two cars, incidentally not Audi, where one of the parking sensors in the bumper causes codes and issues with other systems. In one case it was the adaptable cruise control. In another case, it was even throwing codes for the awd diff system even though things were working fine. These modern cars are very voltage sensitive, so when components go bad, and or the batter gets funky, it can cause bugs not unlike the operating system in a computer. I mean cars are basically computers now. I am not an expert on automatic electronics at all, I've just had bugs a couple of times.

Sometimes simply making sure the battery terminals are tight and not corroded can help, and or doing a disconnect and reconnect of the battery will cure minor odd electrical issues. I'm not aware of what would get reset by doing that on an Audi. On my Porsche I have to use a trickle charger so I don't lose complete power and have to set up a bunch of the cars systems from scratch. Good luck!

I know IÂ’m a little late on the reply but hope I can answer someone elseÂ’s question looking for a solution. I had this same problem on my 2013 A6. Mine also had the fault for the door contact switch. I realized that the cruise would work sometimes and then not at other times. The times it would stop working would only occur once I opened the door and got out or back in. I found that if I opened and closed the door a few times, (sometimes of few times meant 20x) the cruise would start working again. I went to the dealer and bought the part. (Drivers door) There is a specific door latch for cars with acc. A door latch from a car without acc will not work. I removed the old part and visually inspected everything. I even went as far as taking it completely apart and testing each micro switch. I could not figure out what was wrong with it. Every little switch worked. I then plugged in the electrical plugs with the latch out of the door and checked to see if it would work. The car said acc and braking guard not available. I then repeated the exact same test with the new door latch from the dealer. The error went away. I have had the new latch in the car for 8 months and have not a problem since. It was also a realitivly easy part to change on my own. Anyone with a little knowledge on taking things apart should be able to figure out how to put a new switch in.

Hopefully this helps someone. I was having this issue after several things (windshield and water pump replacement). A non OEM windshield will definitely throw the error, but I had this issue after my water pump too. It turns out the dealer didn't attach a vacuum line properly. I would check that if you are getting this error.

Can you also post part number of new switch which you bought? Did you follow any instruction or video when changing? what was the cost and how much time did it take?

    thank you

Old thread, and probably many on ACC like it, but bumping this one.

Got a 2014 Audi S7 a couple months ago, ACC and Braking guard unavailable error. I really have gotten so used to using cruise control, I can't live without it. Took it to Audi dealer on August 25th, got it back October 30th - issue not fixed but charged thousands of $$.

"You need new sensor brackets and calibration" - purchased, installed - same error

"Oh we think you need a new door lock mechanism" - purchased, installed - same error

"This door electrical harness looks corroded you need to replace that" - purchased, installed - same error

Dealership then says, and obviously this is not literal, but......."Thank you for funding our blind searching, we give up your car is ready for pickup". I pick it up, still same error.

Very frustrated to spend so much, have car there for literally 2 months, and issue persists. Windshield? Would be another guess. Door latch (is this different than door lock???), would be another guess.

Are there any software gurus that can delete or bypass all the complimentary systems ACC needs to check to be successful? Any way to hack in standard (non-automatic) cruise control functionality?

My OBDII bluetooth scanner shows ACC 2 Code 154624 and ACC Code 154624 (one code for each sensor? Not sure why it shows twice.

Also see "Door electronics Drive Side Code 1482 Status: ACTIVE/STORED - no description available".

No VCDS or OBDEleven software - worth it? Is this something I can do as a very shadetree "mechanic"?

Full disclosure: vehicle has a rebuilt title since it was in a sideswipe accident - driver side damage but no airbags or engine bay intrusions. Just replaced fenders and both doors, doors were sourced from A7 and all S7 parts and trim swapped over. Could definitely be contributing, but not in a way that I or the dealer understands how. I would hope the computer scan would be able to show exactly what module is preventing ACC from working, but I guess it's not that specific.

Get OBDEleven. It's very useful. Clear codes, reset service intervals, coding batteries, etc.

I have a problem every other month with the ACC unavailable. (Mine is even more annoying in the fact that the warning chime beeps every 20 seconds. After a day or 2 of going insane, it'll start working again.)

It stored a code in OBDEleven for the GPS Antenna open circuit. I've read on a few other threads that this could be the cause. So I bought a new one and plan on changing it the next time it stops working.

This is why I never pay for work until I check it. If I pay you to fix something, you aren't getting paid unless it's fixed. I do not know all your circumstances, but they definitely shouldn't be charging you for repairing a problem that they didn't fix.

So it's RossTech or OBDELeven - you prefer OBDEleven? Any specific pros/cons for each or do they both basically do the same thing.

I had this same issue for a few months. Finally took it to Audi for a full calibration. After hearing tons of stories about the charge for this, I was happy to find it they charged a flat fee of $495 for the calibration. Took a day and everything is back to good again.

Audisthesia owns both and has written about this. Search those posts. I believe the bottom line is that RossTech costs more but gives more functions. A user needs to decide how much function the user needs.

By the way, you write that the car was in an accident so bad it was totaled (I assume that's what you mean by "rebuilt title"), yet only sustained essentially cosmetic damage? I'm confused and wonder if the damage was more severe than you might have been told.

Since we are doing this full term:

hit me on Friday, thought a restart would be fine. Was using ACC on I-95 North passing through VA and it faulted out. No other issues showing up.

I used to get these after the lowering links install, but it also gave me a Ride Height fault, and headlight fault. Now, its just ACC and Brake Guard Unavailable.

    Any Thoughts?

It was more than cosmetic, some suspension parts needed replacement, and yes the damage can be beyond what the eye can see (I have all the photos of the car from the auto auction before repairs).

Update on car: This past saturday I called dealer to see if car was ready (it's been there 2 months, I was checking in) and they say "it's done, come pick up!". I admit I was skeptical, but I picked it up. Still saw the ACC not available error and was pissed. On Tuesday the lead advisor, who was not working on Saturday, called and asked "did you pick the car up?" (confidence inspiring) - "yes, I picked it up but it's not done". He said yup, not done, allowing you to pick up was a mistake, please bring back. Soooo.....on Tuesday it went back to dealer. No word since.

During the brief time I had it the only ACC related error code I could see on my Blue Driver OBDII reader is the 154624 code. Before I took it in the first time, there were other ACC related codes that the dealer has already addressed through calibration and other means. So....still some hope they can get this fixed. At great expense.

I can't help you with that part but sounds like you're one of the lucky ones if it is indeed the switch causing it. Others with this error like myself are stuck playing guessing games between camera, cable, underseat module, etc. since it appears the error codes don't narrow it down much. I'm getting ready to replace my front windshield due to a crack and my Audi tech said he will do some more troubleshooting while he does the glass job. Been living with the ACC error for the past year.

I’m sorry to hear that I hope you get it figured out. Might need a calibration possibly? Only dealer can do it

I hope mine is just the switch. I use acc a lot on my a7 the acc was flawless and I never had issues, no door contact switch or faults or anything

Thanks.. they already did calibration, that did not solve it. I'm sure it's one of the other 2-3 things, just haven't gotten around to working on it since i don't drive it much and rarely use cruise control. The car runs flawlessly so i forget that error is even on when i drive it! :)

Yup the car is so great I don’t worry about the acc too much but I do miss it. Hopefully we will both get this issue resolved soon

I’ve been living with the problem for over a year now. Cable, camera, module… crazy. I wish I knew how to code the car via VCDS and enable regular cruise control.

My brothers we must not give up on this journey of getting our ACC back.

If you can post your autoscan maybe we can dive deeper into the cause.

for mine im pretty sure its the door contact switch but im aware of some other possible issues people could be facing. ACC calibration at dealership would probably be one of the worse case scenarios
