i know this ride just hit the streets but i hear RS5 coupes are not selling well and dealers getting cash to move them (4-5K). i suspect the same will be true of the SB. i think the problem is that most of these cars with moderate equipment options rapidly enter the 85-90K territory. that's like 10K more than an M4. that's A8L money. for a really fast A5.

i'm looking to get one but am in no rush. have any of you had any luck finding a good deal on one? (4-5K under MSRP?)

You're right, the pricing is a bit higher compared to the standard M4, but I also thought the M4cs was a closer comparison to the RS than the standard M4. I could be wrong here, but I thought I remember reading this somewhere (my memory is not what is once was - when our daughter turned 3 she became allergic to sleeping).

As to the discounts, I cannot speak directly; however, I would expect the RS5 SB to have a higher demand than the RS5 coupe as it is far more practical and the first mid-sized RS variant since the RS4, with the RS3 being a bit too small for as a family sedan and the RS7 costing $40k more than the RS5 and only offering 4 seats (if I recall correctly).

Audi does not offer incentives to the public on any RS models (outside of a stipend of loyalty) The coupes are not selling as quickly as they would like, but they have altered allocations on the coupes to adjust. 2018's can be had for up to 10K off on in stock dealer inventory. Ordered distributions are a different animal.

The RS5 Sportback is selling well. The most I have seen is 6% off MSRP, but that was a deal on AudiWorld where a member ordered two of the same car and pitted to dealerships against each other. Brillant.

I received 3% off for in-stock inventory. Generally, you'll be able to secure more substantial discounts in the southeast of the USA as Audi does not perform well.

Keep in mind the mainstream reviews of the RS5 Sportback have not hit the streets yet. I expect this to happen in March and sales will accelerate.

I keep tabs in the Chicago market, and there are around 72 units in stock. There were 76 units last week. I *believe* the total allocations for 2019 are under 2,000 units for the United States.

Once folks sort out their taxes, I expect these units to move quickly. The value proposition is too high especially comparing to other vehicles. Send me a PM. I already helped one AW member receiving a 5% discount in the Houston area.

Aggressive pricing on coupes reflects low demand for the 2-door variant, and a model that's been out for a full model year. The A5 and S5 have seen similar, with a disproportionate demand for the Sportback. The RS5 Sportback has just started hitting dealership lots, with pent up demand given the long lead time from introduction early last year to finally arriving Stateside ... on top of being the more desirable RS model. There are discounts to be had though, as a lot of dealers received 10+ units in their initial Q1 allocations. That's a lot of inventory for an RS model, with an average spec price of $85k+. If you're okay with a "popularly optioned" car in Daytona, Florett, Glacier or Mythos ... you can get 5-6% off. The lower volume colors, like Sonoma, will command closer to MSRP (unless those units sit around due to lack of interest in bolder colors).

I really thought that the demand for the RS5, coupe and SB would be high. You always hear people yelling at Audi to bring in more RS models, and when they do, the demand just isn’t there. Do you think that’s because Audi has this middle tier option(S models), and MB and BMW never have? The S models seem to satisfy most of the consumers out there. It seems MB is jumping into that model, as they are offering the 43AMG in some of their models. BMW recently started their M-sport models(kind of). Back to the topic, I surely don’t mind seeing a 5-6% discount.

MB has the AMG C 43 and BMW has the 340/440 that are very close competitors of the S4/5.

Yes, that's what I mentioned previously. But BMW now started making Mxxx cars, which are more direct competitors to the S models and 43AMG cars. Audi has been doing that for years.

In my opinion, the things that really hurt the RS5 coupe are:

    1. Very niche market. Likely too expensive for those just starting their careers. Impractical for those that are established at work with families. And, one of many options (718, 911, R8, Maserati, Vette), for those who no longer have kids to cart around and have extra money to burn.

    2. Terrible lease rates.

I was ok with the having an impractical coupe with 3 kids. But, it can be a huge pain in the a$$ - especially when loading my 4yo in the back before / after work. I assume most folks would not want to deal with it - you should see the looks I get from parents at daycare as I am contorting myself to load and buckle my little one in the back.

Seven years ago I leased the M3 because BMW had stupid low lease rates and 7-10 years from now, I will be looking for a 911 or R8 (maybe sooner if I convince my wife that a sports car is practical with 1 kid in middle school and the other in college. )

^^^its easy to convince your wife, just show her that the 911 has a back seat. Done!! I have two little ones, and they actually fit in the backseat of my 911 S, but they do prefer the Hellcat, because it’s louder and faster. Kids, what do they know lol

Curious on people's thought about this now for what is left for 2019 new. Loaded at $98K MSRP, being offered 85K no loyalty and 83K with Loyalty. Thoughts?

I was able to get 15% off MSRP when I bought mine in March. That seemed to be the going rate at that point. However, since then people have reported getting north of 20% off MSRP. Your deal equates to around 18% off, which is pretty darn good. I imagine a decent negotiator (which I am not) could get another 2-3%.

However, that $98k MSRP has me scratching my head. Even a fully optioned out RS5 SB comes to $94k on Audi's configuration tool. I'd make sure to take a very close look at the MSRP as it seems quite high compared to most others I've seen.

You can actually get a coupe over $100k on the sticker if the dealer orders it with the winter wheel/tire package. It raises the price by around $3k if I remember right. I tried to get them to drop the package from my 2019 coupe but, at 12% below MSRP for a car they originally had marked up 20% over MSRP, they were having none of it.

Well, that deal is no go. We had some agreed upon numbers, but then it went up in price because it couldn’t be approved by the boss anymore. Oh well, I made my play. It didn’t work out and I turned it down, I’m not one for the bait and switch sales tactics. The last thing I want to do is travel across country and the deal changes again when I get there.

Keep looking. Exactly this time last year I picked up (sight unseen, shipped across country) my left over 18 Coupe and ended up 23% off. Granted there tends to be better deals on the coupe, but I think you should be able to find around 20% off, especially on the higher MSRP cars or less popular colors. Mine was 95k+ and Sonoma Green, so win win all around!

I purchased a new Nardo Sportback a few weeks ago. I got roughly 18% off. I did try to push to 20% mark, but the dealership wouldn't budge. Glad I pulled the trigger when I did because there are no more new Nardo Sportback with my preferred options.

Well they came back with another 2k of incentives today. 83k with Audicare. I still haven’t responded back. There is a part of me that wants the TTRS that I have on order and there is a part the really misses my old RS5 SB and is ready to get another one and move on.

At the beginning of the year, I wasn’t sure the one I had was what I really wanted. My wife and I wanted to get really aggressive with paying some bills and we ended up paying off everything we wanted about year early. I still really miss my RS5 and there are a handful of them still out there that have everything that I want. Now is the time...

Very true. Now's definitely a good time to get a smoking deal on some of the few remaining. And kudos for making the hard sacrifices to get finances where you want them. Usually a hard decision to make but always the right choice.

Looking forward to seeing what you do end up with. Good luck!

I hear you - this was one of the reason I traded mine, too. That and having (at the time) a 3yo with a coupe was rough. I miss it at times, but also enjoy being in an SUV. My wife and I have been debating adding a sportier weekend car (e.g., used 911) for spirited drives, but not really a priority right now.

Now is definitely the time to grab one. Good luck!

Sticker on my RS5 was $83,090 - I paid $70,090 + TTL and they threw in Audicare. This was bought in December 2019, so I can only imagine the deals are more aggressive now.

I have been in contact with dealers. The best I can get is about 15000 off and 0% for 72 months with the loyalty discount. This is on a 98,000 MSRP. I was hoping for better and may just wait. Any dealers reading this please throw your hat in the ring!

I was able to get a decent enough deal, but I am still thinking about it. The TTRS that I ordered in January showed up to port yesterday. That isn't making things any easier.

I was able to get 19k off (incl the loyalty money) this week on an RS5 Coupe with 0% interest/72m on top of that. There are some really good deals out there right now.

I had to step away from a 2019 RS5 Sonoma Green Coupe deal that was over 17% off recently with .99% for 72 months. The car didn't have every option I wanted, and I don't LOVE the green (love black cars). Man, do I really love the driving experience of the RS5 though...

I think I'll keep my eyes out for 2018 or 2019 CPO Black RS5 Sportback in the future.
