Fuel pump tool? Is there such a thing? I guess it is an Audi and they would make a special tool..
I didnt need a tool to replace the fuel pump. Its probably the most forward thing to R&R.
    Disconnect battery
    Go to trunk.
    Remove carpet.
Unscrew cover plate in back right corner.
Mark/indentify/take pictures of hose and connector configuration for reassembly if and when needed.
    Unplug electrical connectors.
Gently tap the screws cap free, and remove cap.
Put rags down and around plastic bag.
    Lift old pump out
    Put it back in reverse.

^from memory but I'm pretty sure I got it all. Should take next to no time to do.

I need to take the fuel pump basket out and I’m sure I can get it someway I’d rather just buy the tool.

2 big flat heads works fine. I've taken mine in and out probably 5+ times this way.

FWIW, I'm "small framed" (but 6' 3") and have been able to release the basket and remove with just gloved hands. In fact I'll be doing it some time between today and the weekend. It's worth a shot in any case.

I’ll give it a go without the tool.

FYI when re installing, it is keyed to only click back into place from a single position, even though you have multiple slots/grooves, only one of the three or four ways it intitially drops into the tank will actually allow you to twist and lock it into place.

No need for the tool. Replaced several without it.

A place between here and there

I placed the open end of a longer wrench in one of the slots and tapped it loose with a rubber mallet on the closed end.

I just did three pumps yesterday without the tool.

1: two screwdrivers push into each other
    2: a wrench

Both of these I was too annoyed to use, especially because the pump is so far forward compared to the access.

3: a long screwdriver placed on the outermost ring portion of the basket and hit with a mallet to rotate.

(Counter clockwise to loosen, clockwise to tighten) needs to only move a small amount (roughly 10* or a cm of movement.)

I have the ass muncher brand wrench that makes it easier. Done a bunch utilizing the balls deep screwdriver method. Both will get er’ done. Less fuel splash with the wrench.

I got the wrench. I don’t feel like struggling at all. The older I get the lazier.

Just pulled out my S4's pump a few hours ago, using the 2-hand method. Took me a few minutes to remember the technique, and about 10 seconds to execute. Gotta get one hand in there, then squeeze the 2nd hand past the arm, and have both hands grab the pump basket. Turn counter-clockwise and it'll pop loose.
