So, I've changed my 2012 C7's OEM camera to cheap aftermarket one I am selling somewhere for few dollars. Everything remained OEM but the camera module itself.
The outcome is mixed.
The image quality is indeed better, but it's not HD class that the camera is made to. The Audi factory backs up cam controller water downs near HD imagery to 1990's S-video. Still better than 1980's image quality of the OEM camera.
So it's not something you pay someone $$$ to do this, but a fun(?) weekend DIY everything cost under 40$.
If you have knowledge of hooking up video wires and do not forget to keep aftermarket in-line 12v voltage regulator before splice wires, it's a 3-hour job.
Probably, I will remove the factory OEM back up the controller and revive HD quality imagery when my own 9" folding screen c7 android system completes.
And a piece of bad news for the 360 surround camera system - those cameras are LVDS and no, those are NOT replaceable.
Maybe I would make an aftermarket kit replacing cameras and the controller but using OEM wires because the most challenging thing to install an aftermarket birdview kit is wiring.

In OEM camera(left), there are Moiré pattern(in dark circle) appears due to poor optical quality of imaging sensor - you see green blurred stuffs along dark edges, and there is also a lot of pixelation due to up-scaling 320x240 camera. In retrofit camera, there is no more Moiré pattern and dynamic range of objects are better due to better aperture value lens and imaging sensor, but you can see still moderate pixelation and interlaces as the OEM controller is down scaling image. Also, I see the changes in horizontal plain due to different optics.
