Hi everyone, I found a lot of discussions related to 3.0 engines, but what about the 2.0 ?
Let's build a list of available tunes, price, hp, torque you can potentially get?

OP: Contact member Perry01. I think he has the highest performance 2.0T Q5 - stage 3 with bigger turbo and tune. He may know about your stage 1 and 2 options, as well.

Can't say if '18 has a different ECU than the earlier models.

Unlike the B8/B8.5 Q5 2.0T, the B9’s have the Gen 3 EA888 motor which has great potential but am unsure as to whether the ECU has been cracked. The MK7 Golf R and current S3 guys are putting down some impressive numbers with the Gen 3 2.0T.

But on the link that I've sent above it's saying
    Audi Q5 (B9 / Typ 80) All 2.0 TFSI EA888 Gen 3
That's exactly the new motor, right?

It appears this must be the case. It probably shares the same ECU as the other Gen 3 EA888 2.0 T’s. The ECU’s that support the new turbocharged 3.0T have not been unlocked yet.

So just to update the thread, last week I've done APR Stage Plus on my 2018 Q5 2.0T
The price for the mod totaled in about $1280(Labor, tax included)
    What I noticed so far:
    - the car is so much more fun to drive, when RPM is in 2-3k zone - doing the kick down just explodes - the car immediately replies to gas pedal.
    - after 300 miles of doing kick down on every light, I still got an mpg of 21miles\gallon, which is pretty cool

Man APR and others have made serious $$ on software flashes.

Companies like MHD in the BMW world charge about $250 for stage 1 maps (91-95oct) and $50 extra per stage. Including Ethanol maps. All can be flashed from your Iphone/android devise. No $200 cable required. Just a $20 USB-OBD2.

It pains me to see people pay $1200+ for a OTS flash.

I hope competition brings down the price in the VAG segment.

Comparing a company like MHD to APR is going to be difficult. Yes, they both make software tunes for cars. That's where the similarities stop. MHD makes tunes for a handful of BMWs. I would argue that the BMW enthusiast market is definitely larger than the Audi enthusiast market. They appear to have 2 people in the company based on info available on their site. So extremely low overhead and larger market. This would allow them to set low pricing, even ridiculously low pricing to undercut competitors in their market. APR makes hardware AND software, for a ton of different models, across a half dozen manufacturers internationally, and employs dozens if not hundreds of people. Their overhead will be massively higher. They couldn't make software and sell it for the same price as MHD and keep their doors open.

Also keep in mind that you generally get what you pay for. I don't know shit about MHDs product from a quality standpoint, maybe it's great, but there is rarely such a thing as good AND cheap anything.

    Handful of bmw’s? Lol

My 335i MHD flashed car out ran my friends Cobb flashed car many times. I went the cheap route and it paid off.

I’m not here to compare the companies cash inflows/outflows, marketing, development, product mix, etc...

Next, I bought a $400 fmic and he bought a $1500. Guess who got the faster time slip?

An OTS flash by Any VAG vendor is over priced. Except for the apr+ I didn’t know about the power train warranty.

Just looking at the number of products they offer on their site vs the amount of a large tuner like APR. LOL?

(By no means is a support post for APR, just the biggest and easiest company to reference)

So ignoring most of the factors that help determine product price. Got it.

I’m not ignoring the factors. You obviously have way more time than me.

I think VAG platform prices are overly expensive.. What’s your problem?

Cool story? You want stories, go on amazon, they have plenty of them for sale. Want to talk about their 4 P’s? Lol
