    thread restorer/chaser kit?

I don't know if I'm babying the car too much, but if there's a dirty thread hole, I try to clean it.
Using some crappy steel brushes I have, a thread restorer kit, chemical cleaner, and dust-off to make sure it's dry with air. That way there isn't liquid left in the hole that could prevent the bolt from fully going in (fluid doesn't compress). Dust-off because I don't have an air compressor, and I imagine it's faster than letting it air dry.

However, my kit seems to have not come with some pieces. I mean, I bought it complete, but it doesn't come with M7 or M9 in the first place, I think.
It skips them, going from M8 to M10.

    Anyone else experience this?
I think I discovered this because I went to try and clean an M7 thread hole and found I have no tool for it.
and searching to buy one separately online, I can't find any that even exist.

If that's the case, I hear these can be "custom made" by cutting vertical slots into a bolt, of whatever thread pitch is needed. I imagine the slots are there to catch any shavings.
Maybe some hex head bolts would work (not sure if hardness choice matters)

I have a harbor freight tap and die set thats been fairly useful. As with any harbor freight thing, you get what you pay for, but I've used it for tapping threads into aluminum bar stock with a power drill and it worked just fine, even without using cutting fluid. I've never used it to chase existing threads but I'm sure it would do that no problem. I would imagine the difference between HF and a quality brand is mainly down to the quality of the metal that the taps are made from, and the precision/consistency of the machining of the taps and dies. For hobbyist-level automotive work, its more than adequate.

I got this one because its SAE and Metric and thus would be the most useful: https://www.harborfreight.com/60-pie...set-35407.html

But they also have Titanium Nitride sets that are likely more durable.

I thought chasers and tap/die's are two different tools with two different purposes

Yea they're different, but a tap can be used to chase threads no problem, you just have to be careful not to crossthread it.
