Anyone here have experience purchasing a replacement exhaust from UPSW? They sell the full system for $489 which is the best price I've found.

Here's the link to the site:

I've considered the stainless one that EuropaParts sells but I don't want a loud exhaust on this car since it's my daily driver. It does look nice though.

I don’t have experience with what you posted but I use the Billy Boat cat back.

It’s not very loud. Just a little deeper down low. If you want something that isn’t super aggressive sounding, that’s what I recommend.

Yeah, but what is the BB exhaust price? These cars are 12 years old on average and worth $4-8k... spending $1k on an exhaust system is ridiculous.

Ridiculous? I don’t think so. Most aftermarket exhausts have better materials and won’t corrode. Price out OEM replacement exhaust parts. The hangers on my center resonator rotted out. A new factory resonator costs as much as my whole exhaust did. I also had a cracked flex pipe. It would have cost me 1300 to just replace the downpipe and center muffler with OEM. I bought a whole 3 series SS exhaust for 900 shipped. And if my downpipe flex pipe breaks, I ship it off and get a new one for free. 😀

I got a better flowing exhaust made from better materials for less money. And it mates up to the factory hangers perfect. 😀

I dicked around bandaid fixing my wife’s B5 exhaust. I should have just thrown a performance exhaust on her car from the start. It would have saved me money, and time, which is also money. I guess it depends if you look at things long term like I try to do. Spending more money up front saves you money in the long term, especially if you try to drive a car until the body rots off like me and the wife do.

    there's some solution :

    - u-pull scrap yard, I've found the other day a 2006 b7 with new part on it, new cat-back (cheap aluminized) and a new starter, it was shiny and the bar code sticker was there.

    - The fragile parts on b7 is the downpipe flex and around the resonator. Op can get a aftermarket SS downpipe, the flex is bigger thus more resistant. And get a resonator delete by a shop.
2h job and a aluminized Y to replace the resonator. it will be very cheap.

putting a cheap stock exhaust is the best way to change it in few years. Labor + part twice ? op's call.

Thanks for the reply's. I've had a few patch jobs done on the exhaust, and I think it's time to replace the whole system and DP. It's completely corroded, and if I were to fix the section between the DP and center resonator section, they would need to weld a piece of pipe in. Who knows how long that would last with the exhaust as corroded as it is, and then the exhaust would need to be cut out if I had to replace later..

I'm liking the look of the billy boat system, it is a little pricey for how old this car is, but might be worth it for piece of mind since I'd like to keep this car going for another 3-4 years. It's currently at 170k miles.

    +1

I had the same issues and ended up getting the Milltek exhaust system from ECS for $1k, including tax and shipping. Install was done at home and removal of the stock downpipe required another set of hands.

To OP - Look for a presidents day sale, or call ECS and ask then for their best price on the brand you want. Europa Parts also sells exhausts.
