Anyone with a carbon fiber roof?

I really want to reskin the roof, remove the noisy and heavy pano moon roof and reskin it carbon fiber. I don't know of anyone who has already done this on this platform, but contacted a company who make carbon fiber roofs, and got the below.

Rough guess, 45+lbs plus? Think their is a 10lbs plus btwn metal to fiber roof loss alone, then the weight of the entire pano and related weight.

I'm interested in a pano replacement. the glass itself is about 21 lbs. easy to take off with 6 screws.

Why not just get the factory steel roof from Europe? The part is probably half the price of a carbon roof and can be welded in which would retain more torsional rigidity over a bonded roof.

Ah, fellows after me own heart! I hate that audi makes sunroofs non-optional in the US. Unnecessary weight, complexity, performance loss and warranty claims. Not to mention when I hit a bump I smack my head into the roof (seat is all the way down). In the old days, I was able to special order Audis with no sunroof (and a manual!). That said, you'd need the roof panel, a new headliner and a ton of bodywork. Can't say these cars would be worth that kind of investment to me anyway, but would love it as a factory option.

A properly bonded carbon roof is actually stiffer than steel roof tacked in a few places and then sealed with seam sealer.

I've seen the sunroof only part in carbon fiber. That's seems more Duable since is a bolt on. I believe is MComposit from Bulgaria that makes them.

I seen a purple Rs3 with it.

That seems like a practical idea, but would be a lot better if you could remove all the sunroof stuff and just bolt in the carbon bit and put a regular headliner it. How's the fit of that hood? I kinda like that also.

I believe they do also the full roof. The hood is from CMST Tunning. Fitment no idea that is not my car. But I reckon fitment is good... I know the company quality is good.

They used to do both, but sunroofs are a great way to inflate the purchase price at low cost to them, and less build variations. My A4 was manual/no sunroof, and haven't bought a new one since because of not being able to get what I wanted. Had to get a GenI R8 to get manual/no sunroof!
