    Electrical problems , with lights

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me here with my 2005 a4. So a while ago i noticed that my rear LEFT park light was out. And it was weird because they are LED and they shouldn't burn out. Then i noticed that the LEFT fog light didn't work either so then i was looking for fuses and looking into the problem. And i also noticed that the LEFT brake light is out too. And the front LEFT park light works at startup and then starts blinking and then it eventually turns off.. So on the left side only the rear blinker, front blinker and headlight works, and the rear left fog light. And at one point i noticed that my horn doesn't work either. And recently both front and back wipers and pump stopped too.

I tried changing the module under the driver seat and the piece behind the fusebox where some relays are . But nothing worked. Does anyone know where all those would get powered from?

I did a alh tdi conversion into the car, but i don't think that could have anything to do with the engine. Or am i wrong.
I also changed the cluster to a diesel one. Maybe there is some programing to do? I couldn't find anything with vagcom...

I would be thankful for any help

The module that powers all of those things is located behind the driver side knee bolster. Part# 8E0907279E inspect it for any signs of water contamination caused by water from the battery \ brake booster tray backing up. If you replaced this part already i am not sure what it could be.

The Central Electric Control Module(CECM) controls the exterior lighting.

    Click

The Comfort Control Module(CCM) is under the seat and does not control the exterior lighting.

I believe it is called a BCM (Body Control Module) on the B6 and is located where let it snow indicated.

there is no CECM on the B6 per se.

I guess it all depends upon where you look to reference the component. Several of the control modules have different verbal descriptions. For example in the Bentley Manual it is called the "Vehicle Electrical System Control Module J519". The J519 is usually consistent across all of the different verbal descriptions.

yup..as I looked at it all, and after searching for parts....
It seemed that the CECM was the catch all module, much like the GEM (general electronics module) of American made cars.

Then the CECM became more specialized into two separate modules, the BCM and the CCM

Using BCM seems to help when doing a google search for parts for our model, and helps when talking about problems with the car itself.

ok thanks for all the replies,
i tried to change the bcm from a parts car that i have and i have another question now that maybe someone knows more about?
so it is from an 2002 sedan, and i have an 05 avant. the part numbers are almost the same 8E0 907 279 E on the 2002 and 8E0 907 279 F on the 05.
so i thought i would try it out anyways, and i did.
it works better now.. but still not right, so the front left park light works now and the horn and wipers do too. but now the front left signal is not working(did before)and the back left brake and park light still dont work.
what do you guys think, is it a broken module again or is it because it is a different part number?
i also checked on a different avant that was 2003 and it ended with E aswell

Please let me know if you sort this out as I am going through very similar issues in my 03 A4 B6 1.8t. I had some water in the cabin in the foot well. Shop replaced the Comfort control module, then Audi dealership programmed it, and it the car was still not communicating, list of the things not working: blinkers, high beams, wipers, back up lights, windows, and I central locking system. Then they replaced CECM central electronic control module (part from Ebay from another Audi A4 B6) however they did not program it/code it, ant the issues previously listed are still there. Would it need to be coded if it came from another vehicle in order for it to work in my car Audi wants $200 for coding. Any help would be appreciated.

The 8E0907279F BCM allows for auto light feature and may be looking for a signal from the auto light "F" switch as well as a light sensor.
There is at least one diy thread to retrofit it to your car.

I think that you don't need to adapt the E version to get it to work, but may need to code it depending on whether it was halogen or not.
But the F version appears to need to be adapted as well as coded..
That is, You also may need to code the new BCM and adapt it with VCDS.

Although what you are describing seems to me to be a light problem, but I don't know the wiring differences between the two BCM modules either.

others will chime in to clear this up a bit now...
